Before the NIL era, LSU was definitely the better job. Competition for talent in local area. But now, with the chaos that happened at LSU and the NIL era making proximity less relevant, the LSU job is not us prominent as it was. But let’s not act like LSU is not still a great job. There’ll be coaches drooling for it still

1) The playoff situation. Ole Miss isn't going to let him coach the playoffs if he is going to UF. So you are telling me Lane is going to quit on his team before the playoffs to take another job?
This is the play Ole Miss needs to make after we take care of Florida Saturday. Because even if we lose the Egg Bowl we are still in the playoff.

Force him to make a decision and if he decides he’s leaving, announce it to the nation and his entire legacy is tarnished after all the positive documentaries and interviews saying he’s a “changed man” and “money doesn’t impact his decisions” from the last year or two. His legacy he cares so much about will be in the shite box quick for being the first coach to abandon his team before the playoffs start. It’s Bobby Petrino leaving the Falcons level bad

2) For the first time since he was in California he has 4/5ths of his family in one city. Everyone is thriving. He gets to be Dad and is very comfortable in life.

Isn’t his son a sophomore in high school and his daughter a junior in college? He has, what, 2 more years where this family unit is a thing. His daughter isn’t going to stay in Oxford post grad and he’s already said he doesn’t want to coach his son so he’ll be gone too. I think were his kids younger this would be a bigger deal. If he’s thinking long-term career moves, he’s going to consider his kids will be gone soon whatever he decides to do

The play is to let the best coach you've ever had take your team into the playoffs and try to win it. Not try to make someone look bad like a jaded ex-girlfriend.

You would take Lincoln Riley over Marcus Freeman??!!

That’s just objectively wrong…like text book natural law wrong.

Ole Miss isn’t that important. Thinking his legacy is Ole Miss is the most comical thing ever. Thanks for the laugh.

If he moves on it won’t be about money it will be to create a legacy at a place that can happen.

Yes, I would. From an experienced standpoint at the very least. Nobody’s been able to do anything at USC for years. I’d like to see him try at LSU. Again, no perfect candidate.

I don’t think I would be the only one. It’s definitely not an out there take lol. I’ve seen Freeman make some pretty big blunders just as much as Riley.

Would be a bad loss. Probably still in, but if Texas, Vandy, ND, and Miami win out. The Landsharks may be sitting at home.

For any school, I wouldn't trust Lane to honor his word until he signs on the dotted line and shows up for his press conference. He's as shifty as they come.

This guy is truly an OM fan or he’s damn good at playing the role. They genuinely believe they are Bama level but also an academic institution which can interfere with football success. The delusion is off the charts.

You can't ultimatum a coach like him. He's like the most successful coach Ole Miss has had in like 60 years and you're going to tell him hurry up or show him the door? Yeah, smart sports logic though and not emotional.

you can tell how terrified they are about him going to LSU. they come off like they are fine with him leaving as long as it’s not here

Especially since LSU already poached a coach like this in a similar situation. BK's team was on a playoff run and he just bounced which honestly was super shitty.

What's Lane's buyout btw? I hope they do ultimatum him and piss him off. Would show you just how inexperienced they are in a situation like this. That would pretty much guarantee him to LSU or Florida.

Disagree that he’s not interested in LSU. It’s a better job than UF and going there for nostalgia reasons when LSU is setup for success sooner is odd to me.

It’s the age of NIL. They’re set up for success exactly the same. They’re both top 10 jobs that an elite coach could turn around VERY quickly.
