I’m super high on this hire paired with Baker and Davis. Our front 7 would wreck under their tutelage.
With all the coaching dominos about to fall after Saban’s retirement, I hope Kelly can lock up the rest of the staff before Alabama and others start announcing new HCs.

These new hires or potential hires sound so much better than the first defensive staff hires. Steeples was a high school coach with very little experience at the college level. Cook had been an analyst for a while. Lindsey was the only up and comer. House had left UK to strictly focus on coaching linebackers.

I think a lot of that has to do with the nation seeing how quickly CBK turned around CEO’s mess. All due respect to O for ‘19 but…we all know what happened after.
Think about the days when we couldn’t convince top assistants to come here from ‘20 to ‘23 and now we’ve hired two of the best in the biz at their positions and hopefully bringing on a 3rd one shortly.
Edit: for clarity, I’m referring to defensive coaches. CBK had already brought in Hankton/Wilson plus had the good sense to make sure he retained Brad Davis.

You don’t have to pay him tribute. It’s obvious now that fricker didn’t have a thing to do with 2019. He was just in the right place at the right time to clap his hands.
The HC position could have been vacant in 2019 with Aranda and Ensminger in charge and that team still would have been undefeated NCs.

Means Diaco and Jancek back to analyst roles

Which is why I detest Ed O and his fanbois here so much. He had the perfect opportunity to take LSU into the next level to become a dominant dynasty and instead he was more worried about getting some stank on his hang down from 40 year old lot lizards. He didn’t even throw it all away for quality scrunt.

You just made ole Booty Pirate King cry.

A lot of posters were very upset when we hired Ed. I wasn’t, but I now see why they were. Ed does get credit for 2019, just because, but it’s obvious that sustained success would be impossible for someone as ignorant and simple-minded as Ed.

I wasn’t happy when he was hired either. I’m not going to take 2019 away from him. Was he the sole reason why that season happened? No, but he did play a part in it.
Ed’s biggest issue is he’s too “old school” to sustainably run a major program. He believes that just winning alone solves everything and that after winning, everything should “take care of itself” and life should “be a party” for everyone involved.

His snapchat girl will turn 38 on July 4th of this year, fwiw.
