Briles has a good platform at UH b/c King and most of the offense will be back next year. So his decision to stay for another year makes sense—he may be the next head coach if Major gets fired. It would be interesting to know what SEC team approached him.

You think major is getting fired? I figured he’d get hired by a bigger school first

I don’t think folks at UH were pleased with the last 2 years. If Major goes 8-4 next year, he could be done. The administration knows they need to keep fans interested in the program, and the UH president is on record saying that 8-4 will get you fired. (That was Levine’s record when he got canned in favor of Herman.)

When they hired Major the AD publically said anything less then 10 wins was fireable.

My first thought was damn that’s hard core

My next thought was damn I wish LSU would hire that AD

Even if major is on the hot seat, it doesn’t hurt Briles to go elsewhere for a year and show out. I mean it’s not like they wouldn’t consider him just as much if he leaves.

He has a lot of bad losses in his two years as HC. He is 15-10 and half of those 10 losses have come to teams that finished with a losing record.

2016 0-1 (9-3 under Herman w/MA as OC)
San Diego State (11-3) - 10-34

2017 - 7-5
Texas Tech (6-7) - 24-27
@Tulsa (2-10) - 17-45
Memphis (10-3) - 42-38
@Tulane (5-7) - 17-20
Fresno St (10-4) - 27-33 (Hawaii Bowl)

2018 - 8-4
@Texas Tech (5-7) - 49-63
@SMU (5-7) - 31-45
Temple (8-4) - 49-59
@Memphis (8-5) - 31-52

Fairly certain that was Tilman Fertitta that said that, not the AD. Fertitta has as much influence over a program as any individual in college sports (save for maybe T Boone Pickens but he doesn’t appear as personally interested in OK State as Ferttita is at UH) but I’m sure he could fire him at the drop of a hat if he wanted to anyway.

Regadless of all that I think Ferttita was just high off of the past few years’ successes and was talking shite to pump up the program in wake of losing Herman. I’d be pretty surprised if he actually followed through on that threat, at least during this offseason.

At this point, I'm fairly confident I know which SEC did not approach: LSU

There aren't even rumors about LSU staff changes.

Orgeron is fine with the 100th ranked offense. God help us.

The Alleva way. Any LSU fan who believes changes will be made are fools.

And to be honest, that is great for the health of the program. Ed Orgeron will eventually fall flat on his face. It's just a waiting game.

Yea, Major probably has to have a better season next year or he could be fired.

Coordinator changes don’t usually happen until after the bowl games. Sometimes they don’t happen until after signing day. Sullivan is on a one year contract so that is at least one change that will be made.

Crazy that he went 7-5 and 8-4 and is still there. Lets get an AD who doesnt stand true to his word.

Problem is how long will Alleva wait? I'm sure he will do it the year after giving Ed another undeserved contract and ridiculous buyout. See Auburn!

Soon as the early signing period is over, changes will be announced. I want major change but, don't see it happening. From all indications from staff, it was all on injuries and player execution. They believe they have the right staff and gameplan/scheme/play calling in place. Just like previous staff.

Changes to be made:

Sullivan is gone, only had a 1 year contract.
Sean Salisbury will be added in some capacity, analyst or QB coach.

Team will improve, can't see the offense getting worse, but it will be more of the same. I expect offense to be ranked in the 70s all season.

What should terrify you is the similarities of 0's recent coaching moves to his career at Ole Miss. He has fallen back into exactly what he did there. The LSU program is fricked.

He’s an offensive guy who needed to hire a guy to completely run thenoffense.

So you have to wonder what he is doing, and is he doing it well?

I’d expect 3-4 coaches move on to new jobs after the early signing or bowl.
