The guy Nebraska should’ve hired when they should’ve fired Frost last year.

Is it? Mel Tucker had a great year last year, got a huge raise and extension that now looks like an albatross.

How about making these guys prove it for more than a year?

He’s making $4m a year not 9 like Mel Tucker. $4m a year is mid-tier now

But they extended him to 2028. What if he sucks 2 years from now and has 4 years left on the deal? Then you owe him $16 million, which is a lot of money if you’re not LSU or Texas A&M. They don’t easily throw that kind of money around in the Pac-12.

My overall point is make the guy have more than one year where he may have won with his predecessor’s players. Make him prove he’s not a one-hit wonder.

DeBoer is a hot name. They want to keep him. This is how the world works.

He could change schools this year if he chose. He’s actually the perfect guy for Nebraska. He played and started coaching at Sioux Falls, about 200 miles from Lincoln, Nebraska.

The raise might be a slight overreaction, but Washington is still a top 25 program in terms of budget and fan support.

$16 million is nothing compared to what similar programs have payed to fired coaches recently.

Washington already did, and they extended him.
