quote:

Kevin Steele doesn’t deserve to be HC at Auburn. Why did Jimmy Rane have convos with Kevin Steele and Rodney Garner for 2 years behind Gus Malzahn’s back about Steele taking over the program? Why did Steele and Garner entertain and actively take part in these conversations? 1/5

quote:

Why, after Malzahn confronted them and they apologized, did they continue to show disloyalty by continuing their convos with Rane? Why do powerful boosters at Auburn continue to think they’re entitled to make all decisions re: Auburn football? The arrogance is disgusting. 2/5

quote:

How long will Auburn have “yes men” as athletic directors who take marching orders and have zero autonomy when it comes to the football program? How long will Tim Jackson, Rane and the good ol’ boys loyal to the Pat Dye era get to make decisions about Auburn football? 3/5

quote:

Auburn fans are absolutely fed up with this garbage. We know Rane wants to eventually get rid of Allen Greene and promote Tim Jackson, which would be horrifying. 4/5

quote:

This has to stop, and it has to stop now. Steele doesn’t deserve the job and alums and fans have to speak out. Power boosters like Rane can’t continue to treat influencing Auburn football as their own side hobby to boost their egos. 5/5

If Gus knew those guys were campaigning to have him fired and kept them on his staff anyway, he deserved his fate.

If those guys had the alumni backing Gus may not have had a choice.

Lol. You gumps want it to be. There is zero proof any of this happened. AU beat writers have had zero inside information since Tubs, and they are jelly about it.

News to me I’m a gump. Auburn paranoia on display here as a respected auburn writer reports.

And I’m not sure what to tell you if you think any of this is out of character for auburn.

This is why I don't believe any of this garbage. Supposedly one of those guys got into it with Gus and he told him to resign. The coach comes up on Gus and tells him "fire me".

At that instant his arse would have been heading to his office to pack his shite if that were me. There's no way that shite could be allowed.

And this is the very first instance we are hearing of all this in the middle of a coaching search? I'm very skeptical.

While I can certainly see something like the incident occurring, I can't believe that it would have happened anytime after Gustav signed the extension in 2017.

Anytime after he had that 75% guaranteed buyout, he could have gone to the AD and said "I demanded Coach X's resignation, and he said I would have to fire him first. Either he goes, or I do - and I'm not resigning."

I know Gustav is a strange guy, but I seriously cannot imagine him not having the balls to stand up to someone on the hook for >$20 million if they refuse to back you up. And I can't imagine him just shrugging his shoulders and keeping Coach X on the staff after such a confrontation.

Sounds to me like someone is trying to muddy the waters. Not that it's necessary, we're dysfunctional enough alreaday

This is a perfect response for LBS. The OP isn't a Bammer but you automatically assumed he was.
