Kind of sucks this is all coming all before the game tonight.
I would guess Oregon State would promote Trent Bray, but if I was them I'd make a hard run at D'Anton Lynn.

Coaching searches are getting significantly accelerated with the portal dates and early signing. Basically everyone needs to be locked in before the conference championship games.

MSU has proven they'll pay big money, if Smith can get some of his OSU players to leave with him, and pick up some key guys in the portal they can have a pretty good MSU team next season.

They wouldn't pay Saban. 600 grand to 1.2 at LSU.

I don’t think it’s shitting on Michigan State to just call them what they are. They’ve got 1 CFP appearance. 3 conference championships in the last 30 years. Given the breakup of the PAC 12, Michigan State being in the Big 10 obviously puts them higher on the food chain…..
But is it higher enough to give up a job at your alma mater? To move from Oregon to Michigan?
I’d say he probably has an easier path to the CFP in a MW/PAC hybrid league than he does in the Big 10.

Still have my doubts (MSU Board of Trustees are absolute gutter trash) but if it pans out, would be thrilled. Also, regardless, a new voice for that program is much needed.

The Saban situation at Michigan State wasn’t as simple as money.
He was flirting with multiple jobs every year.
He had alienated some of the powers that be there by telling them he wouldn’t ever have the resources to compete with Michigan and Ohio State.
His resume didn’t make his salary and other demands a slam dunk from an ROI perspective at the time.
No one including Saban thought he was going to retire in East Lansing.
He also didn’t have the support of his assistants, none of whom followed him to Baton Rouge.
Obviously he is the GOAT now and was a home run for LSU, but it wasn’t a cut and dried situation for the boosters in East Lansing back in 1999/2000.

Great hire...at least have some new life in the program. Did a outstanding job at Oregon St.
