Apparently there is a contract extension (I know that doesn't mean anything) with more money for assistant coaches and increased commitment to rev sharing. Just waiting for him to sign it.

The North Carolina job is overrated. There’s a reason no one wins big there consistently.

Lol. There is zero chance Auburn is open. Hugh just pulled in a number 6 class and the power people love him. You can't listen to the rant.

Jon is building up recruiting connections in the south for his eventual chance at an SEC school.

With how things are going in the SEC I predict he gets his shot after next season at Auburn.

I don't think Auburn will open up but some people on here seem displeased with him so that's why I included it. I would think only Kentucky (if they can get the buyout money) and Arkansas are likely the only two openings based on performance after next year. Maybe Florida.

If one of the NC schools decides to crack the code, they could be dangerous with the way the state is growing. Not sure any of them would want to commit to NIL and resources for football just yet. NC State has some great facilities, but has spent years just sort of getting by.

He's obviously got a bunch of players who are coming back and eager to come back.

Arkansas is just too dysfunctional right now.

If Arkansas would have fired Pittman after the Missouri game then Jon would be in a decent situation if he took the job.

But the greed of Pittman could lead Arkansas to a Chad Morris type season next year and that would make it 2019 all over again.

100% this. There is no need to jump to a program that doesn't seem like a good fit. I could see Arkansas and Kentucky likely opening next year and Arkansas being the job he takes.

Definitely the smart move to stay another year and see what opens up next year

plus if you've got kids you can't be ripping them the hell across the universe every year

more and more money doesn't necessarily help you build a better life for your family. Sometimes it works just the opposite.

Well the big rumor is he wants Kentucky because he played there and coached there. I don't think he will go there because football is second to basketball. I don't know if he would be a 'fit' at a place like Auburn. Just looking at potential SEC openings next season (because of fired coaches) it would be Kentucky and Arkansas.....maybe Auburn.

LSU? Maybe not getting fired but agreeing to settlement after losing at least 3 regular season games again. I think he is a better HC than BK and LSU doesn't want to pass up on him.

So if things are that bad don't you think Sumrall could come in and get the university to do whatever (even hire a former volleyball player as a top assistant.....I apologize for that) in order to land him? I think donors would be more likely to come up with N.I.L. money for football easier than Kentucky (for football).

He would be crazy to leave for Arkansas. He is at a place with a much easier path to a playoff. Letting Boise State in the playoffs with a much easier schedule could entice coaches like him to stay put. It's all about the playoffs and the easiest path possible.

The donors have put the money into basketball which is the most NIL in the nation and while football is if not the worst NIL collective in the SEC. They just have not shown the level of commitment to football now and in the past.

This is really shocking to me. Gonna be hard to bring in a quality coach if that's the case.

Sumrall? He might take it anyway. Look what BK did. He should have stayed at Notre Dame.

Great news. Always hoped Tulane gets 2-3 years out of sumrall. Guy is a good coach.

Hopefully they get Mensah back. Unless someone just throws a wild number his way, he’d be smart to come back for another year at Tulane with a known coach and environment where he is guaranteed to start and likely to exceed.

If he wants to play in the nfl he needs as many starts and plays at QB as possible next couple of seasons.
