re: John Morton LSU WR Coach ?
Robiskie is way too old. It's either usc's oc's steve sarkisian or john morton. We need an oc desperately

Add another vote for Robiskie.

Dude's been an NFL coach from 1982-present.

NO STINTS IN COLLEGE AT ALL!

He is the truth and being an LA native and LSU alum...this would be a homerun!

Robiskie would be a nice hire but to what extent? He may coach one ... two ... years? The guy is old and probably will retire soon. We cant just keep hiring old legends who arent willing to grind out on the recruiting trail. We need to hire someone who has name recognition and a good hip. I want someone who will recruit his all off across the country.

That’s one of the 2 strikes against the hire. I was told that age and history with wanting to coach at LSU in the mid 90s and being snubbed are the 2 things working against this. But more age than the history thing. Plus all this was mentioned in passing, informal. Wasn’t anything concrete. Definitely not a “done deal” . Just thought I would pass it along.

What's the timeline looking like? Dead period ends tomorrow right?

Sullivan is easy 70 years old and you have two who has background of oc to help ensminger. The two are sarkisian or is also former usc oc john morton both of those oc's would be big hires

So we keep on the incompetent assistant WR coach under the new guy to keep the nola playground coaches happy? Nice.

can also recruit

How exactly do you know this? He’s spent his entire career in the NFL and I doubt at this stage in his career he’d be too keen on spending many hours on the road to kiss some teenager’s ass

I would assume after NSD. Sullivan retiring right now gives us flexibility in recruiting.

He's 64. By contrast, Saban is 67. Nobody was saying Saban was too old 3 years ago.

Also, so what if he's only here for a few years? If he's a great WR coach, and can help develop guys, that's all that matters to me. He has a great reputation, so his presence on staff won't hurt with recruiting, and Joseph has turned out to be a great recruiter, who can pick up any slack.

Obviously, in a perfect world, you'd want all of your coaches to be great recruiters and great coaches, but this isn't always attainable, so having a good mix is the next best thing.

Also, we're only speculating that he won't be great at recruiting. We really don't know until he gets here.

I think people could be missing the fact that Joseph might being "coached up". We know he can recruit. Bring in excellent WR coaches at the end of their career to teach/coach Joseph how to be a great WR coach.... "grow and develop" your own. Just a thought. #staffstability

I hope this is the case.

It's also possible Robinson moves on and Joseph coaches running backs, where he has a lot more experience.

WR coach is a stepping stone position anyway, how many times does a coach stay in that role for more than a few years?

this is so overblown and always one of the most ridiculous talking points you'll find on a message board.

younger & "hip" is not always better. I swear its like some of you think that kids cannot respect or connect with older coaches

I think they want Faulk to coach running backs if there is any change there.

I’m not convinced it will be a WR coach. They may hire a TE coach since it’s a grad assistant there now. Or maybe a QB coach.

Joseph is 51 and has been a college coach for almost 20 years. Lost cause.
