People shite on Verge but he is absolutely the guy you want as AD if you want Lane.

I honestly believe Verge would do a good job, if the other jackasses would leave him to it. Sadly, i think they installed him as the fall guy in case this hire goes south.

I won’t be disappointed or upset if Kiffin chooses Florida.

IMO - again merely my humble opinion -right now LSU needs a “me and my team/staff will not be outworked Monday-Friday” type of coach.

While I think Kiffin is a good/solid coach, I’m just not sure he’s that guy. I don’t think his style is what LSU needs right now.

I’ll be happy if he’s the LSU hire, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have concerns that he may not be the right guy for this job right now. Seems to me Florida is a better fit for Kiffin in 2025.

Ole Miss isn't letting Lane walk. If they have to pass legislation to sell Mississippi State to another state, or even reinstitute slavery, they are going to find the money. It's the first time the program has been remotely close to a championship level program in 60 years. They aren't giving that up.

Lane will be the highest paid coach in the US next season....at Ole Miss.

So Lane will retire at Ole Miss?

He won’t stay there forever. He tried to leave in 2021, nearly did in 2022, if has given a lot to OM.

I disagree. I think there is no shot Lane Kiffin is Ole Miss’ coach next season. Not sure where he goes (probably Florida), but IMO he will not be coaching at Ole Miss in 2026.

Blank check!?? If true, this is as stupid as signing BK to that ridiculous contract.

Kiffin is not the ONLY coach that can make LSU great again.

Winner is stuck with Kiffin at 15 million a year....in the case of LSU and Florida 25 million a year for a few years for......1 coach......all for a shiny crystal trophy....and if they win it and then have a rough few years.....there will be calls for their heads.

Why do you care? It’s not your money.

Ole Miss is incapable of winning a national championship in today’s college football

I don't think he's leaving either and he will be the highest paid coach. They will give Lane the guarantees he wants and spend the money in the portal as he wants. He will be highest paid alongside guarantees. He stays at Ole Miss. They will break the bank for him. Ole Miss is not poor.

If he walks from Ole Miss it's because he doesn't want to be there. Not because he can get more resources/money at LSU. They'll match that at Ole Miss and give him the money he wants in the portal/NIL. LSU doesn't offer him anything more than what they're going to give him so better start looking for someone else. He's going to leave you at the altar.

You can't just pay a coach 15-20 million a year and guarantee his contract otherwise you end up in BK's mess again. A coach has no motivation to come actually coach. BK was checked out day 1 and was way less hands-on at LSU due to knowing he had his retirement. What's stopping Kiffin doing the same? You don't know his motivation or personality. How can you trust that?

The only thing in this coaching search that would be more surprising/shocking to me than Saban to LSU would be Kiffin remaining at Ole Miss.

They've been a hell of a lot closer to doing so in this era than LSU.

If anything, LSU's recruiting advantage has been diminished in this era of college football. Ole Miss doesn't have to fight HS recruiting battles with the likes of LSU, Alabama, Texas, etc. They can largely bypass those battles and build a roster with transfers...which they have done with good success.

You better be prepared to be shocked then. Don't think they can't raise the money to give him what LSU is offering. Ole Miss has old money too with deep pockets. They're hungry for a championship.

If they match everything LSU is offering what incentive does he have to leave? If LSU says 30 million a year in roster and Ole Miss says: we'll do that too. Why go to LSU at that point?

They're offering to match LSU punch-for-punch with his salary and roster. All he gets at LSU is a headache rebuild and a less livable location than Oxford. Why not just stay where you're at in a nice city in Oxford, less expectations, and keep building what you already built? I don't see it.
