So you wanted miles gone for going 9-3 but praising alleva for hiring O who is 9-3? Makes total sense.

Joe Alleva doesn't get nearly enough criticism. It was quite surprising to me how many LSU fans are completely fine with mediocrity or worse.

A possibility at 10 wins is mediocrity? Just when I thought LSU fans had gotten rid of the neurosis

not sure how we can say that
going 9-3 (6-2) in your first year as an sec coach is good. History proves that.

O may end up sucking, but for now he hasnt. Follow my post history, I hated the hire. I melted

But it is time for our fans to stop being fricking pussies and actually follow the results and get over the past.

I hate to break it to you, but coaching salaries are simply on the rise. You can thank Jimmy Sexton and other universites for being willing to pay that kind of money.

If O doesn't work out, LSU will end up paying someone else what we could have paid Jimbo, Herman or Mullen. If not, we will continue settling with our hires.

I agree that the built-in advantages of coaching at LSU combined with O's ability to recruit should keep LSU at least in the 9-10 wins a year mark.

It's not Allevas fault if y'all didn't have the money.

I posted a clear fact. Fact is 9-3 puts you in the top 5% in SEC

How many teams are realistically in a position like LSU?

Bama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida

These are the teams that recruit on our level or slightly above or below.

Winning 9 games at LSU right now is the definition of average.

We play 4 OOC games which are usually all rent a wins (minus 2 in Wisconsin and Oregon, not including Troy lol). 2 SEC teams on our schedule are always god awful. That leaves 6 teams that have a pulse. So 3-3 in the only games on our schedule worth a shite is not success.

The SEC was completely awful this year. We have 1 quality win in Auburn. We got beat by Troy and boat raced by Miss St and dominated again by Bama. If the SEC was up this year, we could have gone 6-6. O lucked out with how weak his schedule was. Our opponents winning percentage that we beat was sub .500

LSU does have the money. Miles' last year LSU had the highest paid staff in the country, and Miles was a top 5 paid HC. LSU is also a top 5 most valuable football program.

all the idiots out crying today should maybe wait to see if fisher is an over paid failure not worth having.

this time next year you can start your crying if he does well or you might just be on here saying how glad you are that we never got fisher to come here.

the way people look at fisher as the alter to saban id ridiculous, he is not going to be any where near as successful in the SEC and wasnt that great facing much weaker competition at FSU

You know this how? I mean I get they lost to Troy, but then beat the 2nd ranked team and champion of the West.

yep. As much as I am impressed with the bounce back after Troy, it does feel a bit like fool's gold.

Did better than Bamas last coach in the first year

did better than floridas coach in the first year

did better than uga coach in the first year

Auburns is the only one that did better

Look, the search was awful. But it is over with. Time to simply judge what actually happens on the field, and what happened on the field in year 1 was good for the entire history of the sec

You're missing the point. It's not really about wins and losses. It's about the manner in which Alleva goes about his business, and his ability to bring everyone on the same page to make the right hire. It seemed rushed, there were far too many leaks, and he was far too public about wanting O the entire time.

Not to mention fumbling the firing of Miles, which should have been at the end of 2015.

He should have never been hired. Bar 2011 Football's dip has coincided with his tenure. But muhhh fundraising.

Wrong. His last year, Miles wasn’t even in the top 10.

I mean this is simply a bad point to bring up, considering Bama has won a zillion games and titles since then.

Again, it just goes to show you that year 1 results should be taken with a grain of salt. You still have to recruit your own players, develop your own players, consistently fill coaching positions, etc...

year 1 Ws and Ls are nice for O's resume', but I don't think it even remotely means Alleva made the right hire. That is still TBD.

What we DO know is that the process of firing and hiring, he has been terrible.
