I guess being an auctioneer wasn't fulfilling enough...

I'm a little sad there isn't a Nick Saban with 1000/1 odds on there.

Obviously, Nick Saban does not want the job, but he will do everything in his power to prevent Jimbo from getting it. Now it is possible Jimbo does not want the job either and this all just media hype. But if there is real smoke who knows where this ends.

This hiring process could turn into the second round of Saban vs. Jimbo.

I think Jimbo would be a good fit at WVU. I really liked the Kraken at WVU.

So, if he takes it, then is A&M off the hook for the remainder of what they owe?

I thought I remember they just pay the difference. Meaning, his new compensation will be subtracted from what they owe.

Maybe I'm conflating two buyouts.

Seems like that makes sense...

I think with most coaching contracts, what is owed by his former school is offset partially or in full by what he makes at his new school.

But pretty sure Jimbo is guaranteed his entire money owed by A&M, regardless of any future income

I thought his contract was guaranteed with no offset, meaning Aggy is on the hook no matter what, he can double dip at his next stop. I believe Gus did the same thing with Auburn.

I hope he brings his rubber boots to practice. Their indoor practice facility leaks enough to form puddles when it rains.

So that ends that rumor.

According to the terms of the contract, Texas A&M will owe Fisher $19.2 million within 60 days and then pay his $7.2 annually through 2031. There is no offset or mitigation on those payments, and the annual payments start 120 days after termination

A&M has to pay all of the $76 million.
They already paid $26.4 million.
The remaining $50 million or so will be paid out in $7.2 million installments over the next 7 years.

That buyout amount is still shocking to see and even more that they paid it

There must be some kind of clause in Jimbo's A&M contract that states he must make an effort to seek employment to collect his money.

Maybe he is holding out for the LSU HC job when BK either leaves or is fired.

I mean on the surface, it honestly makes perfectly logical sense for WVU.

One question I would have is why someone with a future net worth north of $100m would put themselves through such a difficult grind all over again, especially after 60.

If the answer to that question is, "Because he already has $100m, so he really doesn't need to grind so hard anymore," then in actuality, it probably doesn't make any sense at all for WVU.
