Jesse Minter is the latest candidate to remove himself from the running to be the Cleveland Browns' next head coach. The Los Angeles' Chargers defensive coordinator is not going forward Thursday's scheduled meeting with the Browns, according to Cleveland.com. Minter's decision comes after former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel withdrew his name from the team's coaching search.

With Minter out of the running, the Browns will move ahead in their search to find their next coach. The team conducted second interviews with defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken

Both McDaniel and Minter decided being a coordinator with the Chargers is a better gig than the head coach of the Browns.

The Plain Dealer had a list of their finalists this morning, but the Browns haven't interviewed anyone for the Rooney Rule. McDaniel cancelled his 2nd interview and the first wasn't in person. They now have to interview two people of color next week before they can announce their new coach.

McDaniel counts for that because he’s mixed.

I'm sure it sucks to be a Browns fan every day, but I bet today it really, really sucks to be a Browns fan.

Their GM sucks, owner sucks, they have the worst QB situation in the NFL, and the rabid ignorant Shedeur fans in the media will call for their firing every week. It's a no-win scenario.

Joe Brady did the same with the Saints last year.

The Brown and Raiders are both in the same boat. Terrible ownership, terrible GM and have fired coaches quickly.

They'll either have to hire someone desperate for a HC job, or severely overpay for a up and coming coordinator or retread. Anyone established would probably demand both big dollars and some level of front office control.

End of the day, they are both going to be hiring another coach in 2-4 years because of their shite owners and front office staff.
