music. It’s just as likely Kelly is helping out a friend for a year and he will move on and take an OL job next cycle
It’s also a hedge in case Davis wants to stick his toe in the HC waters next year at a smaller school.

I get that, and it’s good to have options in-house. Davis looks like an up and comer, but he isn’t getting anything but lower G5 HC offers that soon with his experience level. That’s not a knock on him. He’s just young and doesn’t have OC experience yet.
Now I could see him moving on if he got an offer to be an OC at a good G5 program. That would be his best path up the coaching ladder and is more realistic.

Just looked at his coaching history. He's had 22 years experience as an OC at Grand Valley St, Central Michigan and Cincy (also the OL coach for each). He was the HC at Buffalo for 5 years. OL coach for ND for 4 years.
That's a lot of experience.
Yeah, you really couldn't ask for a better analyst.
Don't think this has anything to do with davis at all.

IMO a Jeff Quinn hire in this capacity would be INSANE!!!

That's just so squirrelly. Of course it's about Davis.
Davis' job is OL Coach.
Quinn's job is Offensive Analyst. Quinn has worked w/Kelly for many years with the last 4 or so as his OL Coach.
If Davis was not currently the OL Coach, what do you think the chances of Kelly hiring Quinn as his OL Coach?
Quinn's situation is directly linked to Davis. If Davis wasn't the OL Coach, Quinn would be. Even you can figure that out.

Start the clock on Davis
Would not surprise me to see a Guard/Center-Tackle/TE split here at some point between Davis and Quinn.
BK is absolutely not tolerating a dysfunctional OL!

Actually it is not totally bad news for Davis. Quinn is 59 and ready to ride out at some point.
This will give Davis an extra pair of eyes and will give him an analyst to bounce things off of, an analyst that has also been a head coach earlier in his career at University of Buffalo.

Quinn is likely still being paid by ND for this season, just coming here to serve as an analyst for a year. This is a move similar to what Saban does
Having lots of good, experienced coaches in the room isn’t a bad thing or an ominous sign for anyone. It’s just smart.
Also "analysts" with Quinn's experience is big when it comes to on-campus recruiting. Better than employing every male in the Orgeron family.

How many line analysts does Alabama have?

It's never a good thing for someone with a strong connection to your boss, with similar credentials as you, working on the staff. A reasonable person would conclude that Kelly kept Davis on for the transition but that he has different plans for year 2.
Not sure why all the downvotes, it makes sense

Because it also makes sense he was just brought on to be an analyst and not as a conspiracy to replace Davis after one year.

Davis was retained not only because he was interim but also to make sure that two lineman would sign. Now with Quinn on board the writing is on the wall.
