I think it is mostly just the people purely looking at the record. Their ignorance.

This. I remember wanting Bret gone last year and hoping Chad would be available but A&M fans made it seem like he was waiting on their soon to be opening. Glad my pipedream came true

I'm in if this happens

Football scoop said this:

Sources tell us to expect Morris to target Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables for his defensive coordinator spot on staff. If Morris could land Venables, it would be huge news in the coaching world.

Better than Bert, that's for sure. I think he will recruit better and our offense won't be so damn predictable. I sure hope he can hire a great DC.

Arky is about to get back to kicking arse if they also get Venables.

Get ready piglets. Y'all about about to cause some Aggy melts in the coming years.

It's just a few fans who only see the letters SMU and aren't from Texas. His recruiting ties here in TX are exactly what we need.

I'm thrilled. We will be back to scoring again!!

If Venables jumps from Clemson to Arkansas then I will start to believe the talk that he doesn't really care about becoming a HC. No offense to the Arkansas fans but there are few coordinator jobs better set up for advancing your career right now than Clemson DC

We should have plenty of money for assistants since we didn't give Gus that $7 million.

But if that's his preference wouldn't it make more sense to stick in the comfortable situation?

Are you saying that Clemson is in a better spot right now than Arkansas?

Everyone laugh at this guy

I think Morris is a good but not a home run hire. He has an offensive system, but he plateaued at SMU, and his defenses were disgraceful. HC is about recruiting and managing - and of course, winning games which he was sos so at SMU.

If you're good being a coordinator your whole career I could see wanting a new challenge

But if you want a new challenge you're more likely to try for an HC job not just a more challenging DC job.

There is a whole lot more responsibility and pressure that comes with taking a head coaching job vs being a coordinator
