Of course you don't but when the primary reasoning given for the early firing of O was to get a jump on candidates and to get someone in to save the recruiting class, it kind of stings a bit when a pretty damn impressive instate crop has fled to division rivals with seemingly no fight or even real, tangible effort to keep them. Can't expect kids to come when coordinators are not being hired until after they sign. In a business where the athletes do tend to matter a bit, it's frustrating. No matter the sunshine pumped, this transition has not been handled well even if the right hire was made, which I think it was.

Yet when all is said and done LSU will have the highest rated class out of all the schools with new coaches except maybe ND who promoted from within

Who said this?

It was mostly conjecture around here. I think the timing of the firing was purely Woody insuring that O wouldn’t be able to rally and cast doubt on the decision to terminate him.
I think O staying on to finish the season was something he insisted on to take the buyout and go quietly, which he actually did.
This is all speculation on my part, but it makes sense in hindsight. I don’t think the timing of O’s firing or him staying on were related to recruiting or the search for a replacement. I think those were just after the fact justifications that were floated.

As much as I like Woodward on the whole and think he got the Kelly hire right, responsibility for dropping the ball on NIL 100% stops with him.
I have seen a lot of people making claims like this, but what do we really know about what LSU or anyone else is doing relative to NIL? Texas has been out in the open about their OL deal, but all we really have is speculation about everything else. It’s easy to want to blame NIL for LSU’s recruiting woes or assign all of A&M’s success to the same, but that feels like a cop out. The rotten state of the program cannot be fixed by throwing money at the players if everyone else is doing the same.

“Saving the recruiting class” was only something message board posters said because of the ESD. There was going to be a down class with a coaching change regardless. Having a full staff named day one would not have changed that

Actually that was something woodward wanted.

I don't get this move at all.

Did he say this?

I believe he did behind the scenes.
He was supposedly telling recruits that a head coach was coming asap.

That’s different than what most posters mean. Of course he wanted to let the guys that were previously committed to know they would have new coach as soon as the season was over and keep as many as possible. It was not the primary reason for firing O mid season to keep the 2022 class in tact

For all those arguing about preserving the recruiting class, the thing is that LSU did do that relative to what happened at Florida and USC. Florida had only 6 commitments left and USC only 3.

Exactly people are just melting over certain recruits (and because well they love to melt) but we probably weren’t going to get those guys even if the OC was named.

Mullen was sucking rotten swamp arse on the recruiting trail to start with, but your point is even more valid that being the case.
It was a decent recovery effort. And there's maybe 2 high schoolers we are in play for, and still some portal room. So probably not done yet either.
Just don't expect any seismic shifts, but the cumulative effect of the portal and the OL we've gotten this year (and re-recruiting Brennan) helps alot. Just got to build on it every chance we get.

Once they prove themselves they can transfer on back home.
