Absolutely.

Saban does not have any intentions of a more difficult LSU program.

Tucker is not making Saban the least bit concerned at LSU, IMO.

Moscona throws out that imaginary phone call from Scott to Sabes and now everyone’s sauces are going off that. Hilarious.

I NEVER post sauces but shared what I heard about Tucker the day after the UK game. (It was a score board thread so no longer exists) He’s part of the pool of candidates and will likely be interviewed but we’d have to get down the list for him to get it

I have no problem if you get Nos on some big fish and you work your way over to Tucker getting some run...but as it stands now, he doesn't belong in the conversation.

Aranda has a better resume as a college DC and has more top 25 wins than Tucker.

That's my whole thing about Tucker. Aranda has to say no first to make Tucker palatable.

I'm not anti-Tucker, but his resume just isn't that great. He's always been a "co-coordinator" in college and has so-so results as a HC. He's also relatively old (49). You'd expect a 49 year old to have a better resume for a job like LSU.

And Tucker really doesn't have a resume comparable to Napier at this point.

Yes, this is true but LSU is a different university now. We were in the dark pits of suckage and we had to settle with what we can get. We took a chance on Saban and it ended up a homerun. We can't do that again. We're a premiere university now and already slipped up once with Miles, recovered with a historic season, then Orgeron destroyed it in record time. There isn't time for to settle for a guy who wants to propel his career but hasn't proven anything. We need someone who we know will win for us and put us on the right path again. Too much risk in a Tucker hire even if it may turn into a homerun. Go with Aranda if you want him since you're more familiar with what he can do.

The hire we make now is the most important hire to the university's history on football. It separates us from sustaining our success to ending up like Tennessee or someone like that. Forgive me if I don't believe that a-hole Saban who has done everything in his power to prevent LSU rising past him in power. He has targeted LSU over anyone else since he went to Bama because he knows what we're capable of being. Saban not there we'd probably be the modern dynasty even with 2 idiot coaches. Woody would have to be a damn fool if he thinks Saban doesn't have an ego and would recommend anyone who can curb stomp him every year. I don't care what their relationship is.

It's scary to think even with a dumbass like Miles running the show how close he was to having 3-4 NCs at LSU and it was always derailed by Bama.

Right and LSU wasn’t established.

That is 4 years worth though right?

Tucker only has one full season.

Kirby Smart had zero. I think you're too fixated on a singular item on a checklist.

Yes - Nick Saban is certainly going to recommend a coach for the team he plays EVERY year that he believes has the best chance to beat him. Cuz he's such a generous, caring individual.

I’m semi-pro Napier.

In the “name your top 3” thread i put mark stoops over him behind Aranda and kiffy but just barely. You wouldn’t excite the baw portion of the fanbase but it’d be a solid hire imo

Upside if Tucker is the coach and goes on to great success here: I recently adopted a dog named Tucker so I would have to change any dog names.

Downside if Tucker comes here and sucks: I have to rename the dog.

And Saban must see something in him as he’s hired him 3 times and made him Assistant Head Coach the last time he hired him in 2015. Was also the DB coach.

You know what coach Saban has hired 4 times? Bobby Williams, I don’t want him either.
As for the Tucker reaction, I believe it is more a reaction/fear of Tate and his life work being CRT. My bigger concern is JBE pushing Tate to poison things for Woodward’s main target, to get a black head coach - whoever it may be.
JBE and Tate just want to pad the resume for their next job.

Do you really think Saban will give advice to a sec west team he has to go through

Coaches and admins (even in the SEC) are tighter knit than most people realize. They compete against each other but aren't enemies. Saban is the most competitive coach out there and he would welcome a challenge. It's also good for his brand and ego to have another former assistant heading up an SEC team. He doesn't need to rec a bad hire to LSU to help himself. He truly believes he can beat anyone we hire b/c he's that damn good.

Woodward doesn't care what Saban's opinion is. This sounds like CNN reporting this.

Basically every single coach, especially the attainable ones, have "a red flag"

Even Saban has one: at his age he won't be coaching too much longer

Saban hires guys multiple times because they mesh well with him. Saban is so hands-on as a coach he really doesn't need amazing assistants. He also doesn't want a guy who can unseat his ego.

Forgive me if I don't believe what he says. I don't want anyone from Saban's coaching tree. Need more proof from what I said above? Show me the success of the Saban coaching tree. Generally great minds have great coaching trees. Saban's is the opposite it's awful because Saban is so hands-on and is the mastermind to be the greatest coach ever.

I agree. He is a good coach and is definitely some one that should be looked at. However I would make several people say no before offering.

Putting your racial BS aside, I've heard that Mel barely made it to Michigan State. He really didn't like the look of leaving Colorado after only one year. Felt bad about getting people to buy in only to leave after so little time. But it came down to MSU basically doubling his salary and his assistant's salary pool.

LSU could do that, but I doubt they'd pay that much. And MSU being in the B1G could definitely match anything LSU threw at him.

I think Mel is a very good coach and he's been very involved in the two best college programs recently so he knows what it takes to build a premier football program. I just don't think he would jump so soon again. He said himself that it left a bad taste in his mouth.
