Also your last thread was basically sucking Tucker off, we get it, that’s who you want as coach.

When Scott talked to Saban it was about Tucker

This is so dumb. Saban couldn't even bringing himself to reccomend someone worth a shite when he left here and wasn't even competing with us.

The man has no interest in a stronger LSU and I don't care what kind of friends scott thinks they are, Saban would sell his children up the river for another championship. Does he think highly of Tucker? Probably. But he's not going to endorse someone that legitimately threatens him

Would be a lazy hire and I would lose any respect for Woodward and his Coaching search.

You fired a National Championship Coach and pay him 17 million to leave for Mel Tucker ?

Anyone on the Rant could have done that.

like it or not, prob sounds the most reasonable of the process.

there's a reason why feldman was hearing so much about tucker and reported on it saturday.

He hasn’t proven to be successful. Could also be a colossal fail like Taggert. I don’t believe in forcing a hire due to race. Saban and Kirby aren’t black and have massive recruiting advantages because they win. Winning cures all.

I emphasize the word, if. I’m not advocating for Mel, but consider this:

If Mel comes in, and wins nine games at LSU in his first year, who will black mothers trust the most in their living rooms, the competent black head coach, the goofy good ole boy white southerner, or psychotic white guy?

I say this as a person who wants Freeze. But I’m not as closed minded to Mel as most. But there will be a successful black coach eventually, and it will change recruiting.

Now that was a really good effort, but 100% speculation sprinkled with some BS.

) Scott is a forward thinking guy. He believes Tucker is a future star. He believes Tucker will change the sec as the only African America head coach. When he wins championships, the others will have to follow. Tate has endorsed this belief and has put his stamp of approval on the hire

This right here shows how much this is BS! No way this would get out or even someone in Scotts position say this as the reason he was hiring a guy. So all of of a sudden Scott Woodward is gonna hire a guy who is barely over 500 as a coach and has not won a damn thing but his color is the right color so lets give him a shot cause Nick Saban says so? Yall cant be this stupid!

Woodward has to hustle together $20 million in booster cash to tell the current staff to go away so he can bring in Mel Tucker?

I have a feeling whatever shine is on Tucker's name at the moment will dissipate when Michigan State flames out down the stretch.

Michigan State's opponents combined record this season is 17-27. They've played one of the easiest P5 schedules so far. They'll be an underdog in 4 of their remaining 5 games.

Why would anyone trust what Saban, a rival, would recommend? He does not want LSU to succeed.

There’s just way too much smoke around Tucker…

I can’t speculate on the reasons, but his name is out there for a reason. It’s intentional.

And it’s not because he will be LSU’s next head coach. For whatever reasons, he is the smokescreen candidate. If he was legitimately/sincerely gonna be the next head coach, it would be completely under wraps, not just freely floating around like this.

So our options are Tucker, a goofy good ole boy white southerner or a psychotic white guy?

Do you really think Saban will give advice to a sec west team he has to go through

He’d give it to Woodward. Coaching is a pretty tight community, and as much as we may hate Saban, I think he wants to see his guys succeed. So, I don’t think he’d set Tucker up for failure, and I don’t think he’d frick over Scott by nefariously sabotaging a HC recommendations. And Saban must see something in him as he’s hired him 3 times and made him Assistant Head Coach the last time he hired him in 2015. Was also the DB coach.

I’m disgusted by the way most on this board have responded to Tucker’s name being mentioned for the job. I heard somewhere last week about how foreword thinking he is by the way he used the transfer portal to completely change the roster and culture of the Michigan State program. That impressed me, so I looked up his resume and was even impressed. I had no idea he was black until it reached the Rant and they do what they do. As if the only reasons he would potentially be the hire was “Tate,” “CRT,” Affirmative Action,” Go woke, Go broke.” Completely dismissing the fact that he could possibly turn out to be the best available hire, simply because he’s black.

And I bet 90% of them had no idea of his background beyond this year’s MSU team, aggressively dismissing their 7-0 as due to having not played anybody yet and assuring us they will wind up losing 3 or 4 games. Which they very well may. Or they could go 11-1. Who knows. Just like his being black should have no bearing on whether he is hired, it also shouldn’t simply dismiss him from contention.

That said, he’s certainly not my 1st choice. He’s probably not even in my top 10. (I like Aranda and think he has a really high ceiling with the traits he has). But I don’t think a lot of our top guys will want to leave where they’re currently at no matter how much money we throw at them.
