As these coaches say no the price increases every time. LSU is about to have no leverage whatsoever (If they ever had any). We are going to overpay just to hire somebody. Anybody.

At this point, I really think you call CP and agree to his terms regardless of what contracts that puts LSU paying out. This appears to be getting out of hand.

Wanna bet? It's not going to get expensive, it's going to be a cheap hire from within to a first time DC.

If we are going to overpay then you go back and offer one of the guys who already said no. An offer they can't refuse, if you will.

Nah, they won't have to pay that much to promote Brick to DC. Hopefully they pay Orgeron a million just to recruit, and we can put this whole underwhelming event behind us.

If you have a great head coach you don't need expensive coordinators on both side of the ball...just one side

I'm starting a kick starter campaign to pay for Venables' buyout. I'll post the link.

I think les should assume both roles and call offense and defense

I imagine this conversation in my head:

Les: Brick we'll give you 800K
Brick. Nah, Ill take 1.2
Les: Ok we'll give you 1.0M
Brick: Nah Ill take 1.2.
Les: frick, there's no one else. OK Brick, Ill let Joe know

This is what I'm saying. I'd rather pay for a big name than save on an in-house, last ditch effort. Maybe if we were in the Sunbelt, but not in this conference.

how about a mid-tier DL coach that we can promote to coordinator?

I read the buyout was $1M. That's a little steep.

Steep maybe for a women's basketball coach or swimming coach but this is football. What does LSU football bring in each year? If we get this hire wrong it runs the potential of costing us way more that 1 million.

Yup. Someone in that athletic office needs to get real serious, real fast. Sometimes you take a short-term loss for long-term gains. That's the problem with our vagina of an AD: he doesn't have the spine to do what needs to be done. Never has.
