Is Oregeron really that great of a recruiter?

The real question is, with the great classes we have had the past few years, do we need recruiting help more or coaching help? If it is the latter I think we need someone with a more impressive resume as a coach.

Right. Plus let's get a handle on this recruiting thing - it isn't the whole game. I want to see a good coach first; I think the athletes want to believe that where they are going, the coaching will maximize their talents, develop them, and help them move up to the next (pro) level. As for Orgeron, look at what everybody says: "Peveto is a good recruiter..."
Ok, but what has he Peveto/Orgeron done in coaching? What really matters most?

Very good thought process....I've also started thinking about this solely because it's not hard for anybody to recruit kids in Cali to attend USC.

The fact that Orgeron had 5 star guys like K. Williams and Mcknight with Ole Miss in their top 2-3 schools says he's a pretty good recruiter.

Don't kid yourself, O is a great relentless recruiter that would wreck shop recruiting to LSU, esp in LA and the surrounding area. Wasn't easy recruiting to OM while at the same time they were going winless in the SEC. And yes LSU needs a strong recruiter for the defensive hires b/c whoever they are will be replacing some of LSU's best recruiters who had big hands in landing the last few classes.

1. You can never have too many good recruiters. There is no doubt he is a good recruiter. He left OM with better talent than whent he arrived.

2. I think O is a fine coach in his own right--as a DL coach.

He did well stocking better talent at Ole miss. That says something.

What I like about him is at miami, he recruited and coached d.l. like warren sapp that dominated. At U.S.C. he got and coached D.L. like Shaun Cody, Ellis, ect and dominated. At Ole miss he got guy's like Jerry, Powe, ect. and thier defesive line is tough. When Jerry is drafted this year, he will have put 1st round defensive linemen into the n.f.l. at all three schools. That says something.

Everywhere the guy has been, there has been a pretty damn good d.l. developed due to him. I want a guy like that.
