Is LSU really committed to Miles for the long haul?????

I think this is the big question here. What happens if Miles has another bad season?
I don't think anyone is willing to say that we should extend the guy's contract to forever and a half and I'm guessing Miles knows this. He may feel more secure at UM.
But really, how much longer do you expect him to stay at LSU?

If anything, I think he would be less secure at UM. UM needs a winner and they need a winner soon. If LM doesn't have them winning and in National title hunt in 3 years, I think they pull the plug on him too.

I don't know, they will have a lot invested in this hire.
I just don't see him staying here too long if he has another bad season.

Bob Stoops went 8-4 in 2005 and 8-5 in 2009...weak seasons happen. People need to get off of Miles' nuts. He righted the ship. He deserves credit for having the program where it is.

I agree, but is that the way things work in the SEC?
I'm just throwing out what I think Miles is thinking. We'll see.
UM knows this and is most likely usign it as leverage.

Great thread, to be honest I don't think that the AD or the fans are committed to Miles. Until after the Bama win Miles was getting destroyed on this board and in the media. What if he goes 20-6 or 19-7 over the next two years? Will his job be secure. It will be at Michigan.

As long as we can contend for the West and win 10 or more games, I'm for keeping whoever is coaching.

I don't understand why the fans aren't lined up outside his office begging him to stay. The man only wins 10+ games a year for your team how high are your standards that he isn't good enough for your. I suggest you guys really evaluate just how good you think your team should be in reality not in your delusions and then go beg him to stay.. but thats just me.

I would also like to say that although I like Miles and he is a great coach, there is no one coach out there that I would handcuff our program to for the long haul. Not a one.
If they wan the big bucks, they play with the big boys. There's a reason they get paid like that and in this profession, there is no such thing as job security.
If he wants 5 million a year, he should be willing to take the criticism and realize that if he doesn't perform, he's gone.

True. And this is where LSU has the MOST leverage in the situation.
For Miles to leave, UM is gonna have to offer big money AND a long term deal. At that same time, LSU will have to deny him a long term deal and big money. That's just my opinion.
