Regardless of whether or not he still has a show-cause, I don't think a school on the verge of getting hammered by the NCAA should hire a guy with recent NCAA sanctions.

Definitely not a good look for a school to fire a coach with cause because of major recruiting violations to hire a coach that the last time they had a SEC job they were fired with cause because of major recruiting violations.

I disagree. It is exactly the time to hire such. UT will be under a microscope regardless. Put significant zero tolerance clauses in his contract.

I assure you, after what he has put himself through, he should desire to clean his name and reputation. The oversight on the next staff at UT is an ideal environment to hire Freeze.

At this point does it matter who the coach is
Who are you going to attract knowing it's going to be an uphill climb for the next few years

But what made him great at Ole Miss was not having oversight and committing major recruiting violations to get NFL caliber players. How good will he be in the SEC if he’s not getting those players because of the eyeballs on him by his own university and the NCAA?

Considering their twitter warriors got the Schiano hire nixed the last time around, I can’t imagine the reaction to Freeze would be much different. That is, if Greg Sankey even gave the ok to speak to Freeze.

That is part of the point. How much damage will hiring a safe, but unattractive coach with a short term contract do to the program? If you give Freeze a 5yr deal, assuring patience of a rebuild regardless of the pending probation, then recruits know you are committed to the coach and being competitive.

Again, I completely understand the optics, but this will take some courage administratively to prevent a dark decade at UT.

Hey Zeus, get off your pretentious throne. No one is dumb here. Just thinking outside the box a little instead of going along with the super safe motion.

Do you not think the NCAA will be spying on UT regardless?

Does he not get any credit for what he has accomplished at Liberty? I think he gets credit for it as well as beating bama more than once at Ole Miss. we have had a shite ton of talent at LSU, and O hasn’t beaten bama more than once, and Miles lost to bama forever.

At some point soon, a major program will give Freeze a second chance and I expect him to do well.

Freeze is an unreal football coach. Surely you can’t be serious. He just brought LIBERTY to 10-1 and a final ranking in the top 20.

Not to mention what he did at ole miss. He beat Saban with Bo Wallace at QB.

Let's worry about the coaching issue of the Tigers first!

Many people have already thought of Hugh Freeze to Tennessee, but his NCAA issues and UT's NCAA issues prevent that from being a practical option.

It’s a coaching changes board...and all of us are tired of watching Orgeron mismanage this DC search.
