sounds like its gonna happen. he'll agree to be a band aid on a leaking battleship. any new coach coming in will want 5-7 yrs to guarantee job security, because the ncaa is about to bring down the hammer. theres prob gonna be some hard arse sanctions that will set them even further back. also, pruitt has lawyer-ed up with a real ball buster. if they dont give him some going away $ or mediate, pruitt is just the type of guy to dig up all the bodies. even ut's press conference was incriminating. it sounded like they were outing another program, when, in fact, they were talking about themselves. they just need some sort of stable presence right now.

Considering their twitter warriors got the Schiano hire nixed the last time around, I can’t imagine the reaction to Freeze would be much different. That is, if Greg Sankey even gave the ok to speak to Freeze.

It would absolutely be different.

At the time they tried to hire Schiano his star had dimmed quite a bit after flaming out in Tampa. It was no different than the reaction many of us had when Orgeron was hired...we just didn't have a twitter revolt overexaggerating a potential HC's involvement (or lack thereof) in a big college football scandal (the Penn St./Sandusky episode) Freeze on the other hand is winning at a high level at Liberty AND has a track record of beating Saban, multiple times, with (in the eye's of UT fans) a "lesser" program. Something Tennessee has NEVER done since Saban arrived at Alabama in what has become the most overrated and lopsided "rivalry" in all of college football.

I think if you told Tennessee fans they could be getting a guy who has a history of wining in the SEC (something UT hasn't done a lot of in the past decade) and beating the top program in the SEC (something Tenn. hasn't done in 15 years) they would be THRILLED

I think it's funny that you find the thought of Steele as a HC bewildering

The guy has coordinated solid defenses everywhere he's been and has proven to be a good recruiter

You should start a thread about Orgeron

Wasn't Freeze's claim to fame beating Alabama only AFTER executing some of the most brazen recruiting violations the SEC had ever seen? I'm sure Tennessee needs a guy known as a filthy lying cheater coming in to bring some dignity and honor back to the program after Pruitt left it in a McDonald's bag in the ditch.

Steele: Baylor

He’s been a head coach...terrible.

Similar to CEO’s record at OleMiss...

Yes, I know

But he's been an actual coordinator

He can call one side of the ball, unlike our present HC
