Yes, Mullen would be a better hire. No, they won't be able to hire him away.

No Gruden is not a good hire.

At first I was thinking this, but I've sort of revised my thinking on this issue.

The key would be how would Gruden be as a recruiter? You know he can coach and he understands offense, but whom would he go after for DC?

I am of the opinion that if you are going to hire these days in the SEC, you want someone who has NEVER cached in the SEC or has ever had to deal with Saban. Think about the last few big hires in the SEC and what they have in common. UGA , Florida, USCe....hell, UT prior to Butch...and have any of them beaten their teacher? Only guys to do it in the league in the last 5 years is Malzahn who came out of Arkansas State(Asst at Aubie, Ark and Tulsa) and Freeze who came out of Arky State as well but had no real body of work to research

I don't understand why vols fans are so boner happy for gruden. He hates recruiting and hasn't had college experience. Just an over hyped name. Tennessee is gonna stay at #rockybottom

He’s a good hire for Tards that equate loud demonstrative behavior with good coaching.

Gruden was a good coach but basically dropped out of coaching when he was fired. His last actual coaching job was at some high school in Florida, I think. He has never even attempted to run a college program. Huge gamble if he would even consider it.

As long as UT has someone reminding him then he'll be fine. He wouldnt do anything on purpose as much as he shoots from the hip. So may forget. He wont need to recruit like others. Has a recruiting coordinator that schedules his stuff accordingly, and come in. Also, not sure if some of these rules are just to be in contact with actual recruits. Are the rules the same for their parents or coaches? If not, then no biggie.

He'll be a CEO, and it'll be on his coordinators to handle how to get the system to fit the players.

Gruden is and never was going to coach anywhere, especiall UT.

It baffles me that there are people who believe he wouldnt coach at UT if he got back into cfb. Where else would he? uga? Ha. Gruden has proven he is a UT fan, and there is no doubt by anyone reasonable that IF he did go into CFB coaching it would be at UT. Now that is different than IF he'll do it at all.

Dont be that guy. Just accept this one part of the whole Gruden/UT stuff. Otherwise you are no better than that other uga fan t brown or whatever.
