Is Coach Ed O aware of the backlash he'd get promoting Steve to OC?

I'm sitting in my single wide this morning, breathing out of my mouth (I like O) and was thinking what a PR nightmare Steve would be for O, plus I don't think Steve has ever coached at USC.
I bet Joe told Dave aka the next Saban to just wait 1 more season and it's your job.

i think the issue is who will come here and what he wants to do. i don't think he really wants to go more spread and Canada's offense, which wasn't spread at all really, was even too much for him. he knows he has to have a splash hire, but he did that last year and it didn't work out. now he's got even more heat. he's put himself in a really tough position

Joe & Ed are in it together, go cheap. They can’t spend the money. This started when Miles was fired and they decided to go cheap. The football program except for Aranda is run by 2 aging perennial assistants who have never put together much less run a talented program.

They don't care. Season ticket holders are still renewing and donating large sums. This tells the administration that the fans are extremely happy with the product they are getting.

Ticket sales will always be there, but empty seats will be extremely embarrassing. As I've stated, I like O, but there'll be mutiny if he messes up next season.

The leash is already short and will get even shorter if they go cheap and in-house on this. People are out of patience.
Most are ready, willing and able to abandon ship at the first sign of a leak. Ensminger IS the big Ice Berg off the port bow.............

The current backlash won't matter if team wins. If not, O's contract will not be renewed.

He puts himself in such tough positions because he wasn't ready to run a program like LSU yet. Everyone with a brain knew that it takes a lot more than recruiting and motivating to run a successful big time program.

He is. Will probably do it anyway. Not to say CSE can't do a good job, but this isn't what was in the binder.
