Idgaf about what the contract is as long as it doesn’t cause us to get stuck with him if he turns out to suck. But it seems like the coaches have all of the control now so it is what it is.

Would love it. People forget, before this season he was probably the hottest name out there.

We don’t know if he can or not. No one from the south picks ISU if they’re nationally sought after.

You'll probably be surprised how many people on this board oppose Campbell.

He's a better overall coach than Riley, IMO. Riley edges him in QB development and track record recruiting big-time recruits, though. But I think Campbell has the chops to recruit at the level we need to be at.

If we hire him, in 5 years I think it'll be obvious he was the better hire than Riley.

We all saw what happens to coaches that don’t like to or don’t recruit well in the SEC, even if they are good coaches with Dan Mullen.

Well Campbell loves recruiting and has a bunch of players from Florida, Georgia and Texas in his last several classes.

People worried more about winning the front page of the paper. If he can coach he can coach.

Very good comment. These buyouts are stupid. Where were we afraid O was going to go that we gave him that?

This is true. But there's something to be said for a splash hire that instantly stabilizes/boosts recruiting and transfers.

His team massively underachieved this year

And I don’t want to hear he maximizes talent, bullshite, ISU was talented

Their DE is a stud, one of the best in the country.

Koler might be the best TE in college. Breece Hall is up there with any RB. A multi-year starter at QB. Xavier Hutchinson is a big, athletic WR. Mike Rose was the reigning conference player of the year at linebacker. They have a transfer safety from Penn State that’s a really good player.

I would be very happy with Campbell. Only one wanted more was Riley. Liked Campbell for a while now, but now with Riley and Napier off the board, I really like him.

Yes, I think he’s a great coach but doesn’t apparently like to recruit 5 star guys. Hard to do that and compete in the West

But you need to ask yourself the following : did they have that much raw talent or were they developed by a good staff?

Classes averaging in the 50s but sure, they're talented.

You watch them on Saturdays and tell me ISU doesn’t have players.

Now, credit Campbell for finding and developing these guys (besides Hall who was a big time prospect), but they had dudes and loads of experience in 2021.
