Ironically, Dave Aranda might have been the worst thing to happen

1. He masks Orgeron's deficiencies or lack of proficiencies. He is basically the reason we don't get blown out by Bama and look respectable throughout Orgeron's trial.
2. He limits "downside" until he leaves. He keeps the program intact under Orgeron, and we likely don't have a losing season until he bolts to the NFL.
3. He apparently supported keeping Orgeron because of the recruiting. Perhaps a little selfish, but can't blame him. This level of talent allows him to showcase his abilities to potential suitors in the NFL.
Thus, losing Steele and getting Aranda, while it seemed to be a victory at first, ultimately proved to be Pyrrhic.

He is the only reason whatsoever that 0 had any wins.

Yep. No way O is coach if Steele is DC.

im not sure i can agree, but i definitely see your point.
O wll probably be okay until Aranda leaves in 2 years.

It's actually a really good point
eta. he's not saying, prospectively, Aranda being here is bad for the program.

Did he also score 50 on A&M but let O coach the D that day and give up 30? You're a dipshit

Defense been keeping Les employed for years

It really isn't.
We have yet to see O's offense so we don't know how this team will 100% look under O.

I'm in the acceptance stage. Orgeron better damn well supercharge our recruiting. If he does this and properly manages the hires and stays out of the way maybe we'll be ok. Lord knows we are willing to pay for coordinators to come.
Miles had the machine running but power and celebrity hardened the concrete in his skull and he wrecked his job.

Thought about this earlier...

I see what you're saying and I guess it depends on how long he is here

I mean, this is emblematic of the model we have now. Coordinators just milking LSU for what it is, but not a cohesive, long term vision.

You're not factoring in what was in the binder

Ed Orgeron just pulled off one of the greatest cons in the last decade.
