What happened to the 5 coaches being let go rumor

That rumor was hot for a week

It had to have some legs to it

1 friend who was talking with me about it told me a family member (Former player) asked around and he told me they were fired (i didn't ask, he just told me). that + all the smoke on here makes me think it had to be true

Has Dunbar ever called plays?
I don't know what the thing is about this guy. Every time LSU needs a defensive coach of some kind or another, his name comes up. I'm just not seeing the genius, or the energy, or the innovative creative solid approach in going with KD.

Nobody on Les Miles' staff has asked for my vote, but I'd vote "let's pass" on Mr. Dunbar for now.

He left because he and Miles didn't get along.

Wrong. He left because of differences with Bo. Miles and Dunbar has a coaching history together. Dunbar was a great player for LSU too.

Rantards only know former tigers and former tiger coaches. Any vacancy and they will suggest Phil Bennett, Terry Robiskie, Dunbar etc are the best candidates.

Phil Bennett's track record as a DC is actually pretty good at K-State and currently Pitt. He wouldn't be a bad hire for LSU, although I wouldn't expect it.

Actually I make it a point to bring up Lynn at some point in every coaching search. And Brother Oliver.

Calling the D is a lot harder than most fans realize

It's not just the "calling of the D".

Being a DC requires the ability to analyze film, and come up with a gameplan to attack the opponents offense.

Additionally, it requires being able to see the big picture on Defense and to have an understanding of how the defensive parts need to work together as a whole.

We didn't have either of these skills at DC this year. And, I'd be very concerned that a position coach could bring this to the table.

Excellent DL candidate though.

So was Jamarcus, but I sure hope he doesn't come here to coach the QBs.

I'm not against Dunbar, but think that there are lots of better choices: if Miles does something before they are all hired elsewhere, that is.

He should call his buddy DiNardo and ask him how that worked out for him

Better yet, maybe he should just keep 50pt Pevallory in place so we can go ahead and show him the road next year and get a coach that realizes that success requires tough decisions to be made and has both the acumen and moxy to make them.

guy who has never been anything more than a position coach. That would also pave the way for both peveto and mallory to keep their jobs

Maybe we are going for co-co-coordinators. Three position coaches collaborating as DC - that way they could always get a tie-breaking vote on what to do next.
