HOW IN THE HELL could you even entertain the thought that Mike Tomlin would have ANY trouble recruiting, ESPECIALLY at LSU????

I am 360 degrees opposite from you, he is a home run hire. And yes I think Woody is looking to the NFL ranks as much as established College coaches.

I understand he's been a phenomenal NFL coach. I'm just not convinced that will translate to the college game. I'd love to be proven wrong.

I think the correct NFL coach can. Herm Edwards has done a really good job a Arizona State, and they are not in a recruiting hotbed state per se and have to go into California and fight 4 in-state PAC12 schools as well as the rest of the PAC that recruits there.

Tomlin I think is one of those guys who can transition to college well.

Sorry, I'll bring it down to normal level. He's a young 48, is an absolute rock star when he enters the home. He would be representing one of the top brands in college football. He is the same race as 145% of the blue chip athletes he'd be recruiting. Call me crazy, but I don't think it would be much of a problem for him to get who he wants at LSU.

This and the fact that he has been a highly successful NFL coach, and knows what it takes to get there, I agree with 1000%

He was too busy winning a Super Bowl, and being one of the longest tenured coaches in the NFL for one of the league’s most storied franchises. No offense, but this is an absurd argument.

Yeah because he has been a hugely successful NFL coach. His resume is going to be head and shoulders above everyone else on the list. There is a very small chance he makes a move but he did it would be an incredible hire.

This.

Dudes been head coach in the nfl longer than anyone not named Bill Belichick or Sean Payton. If it were Sean Payton interested in LSU (no matter how implausible) you’d be a fricking idiot for not wanting him.

The NFL is where you find out who can really coach football, and not just stack blue chippers on top of blue chippers year after year. As great as Saban is, he ain't a pimple on Mike Tomlin's arse as far as pure coaching ability.

Don't forget, she tried to coach the Dolphins, and FELL FLAT ON HER MOTHERFLUCKING FACE. In general, the rosters are equal in the NFL. How often does Saban coach against a team with equal or better talent??? And when he does, what is his record? I know for a fact it was 15-17 in the NFL, where the men are separated from the boys, and that will get your arse fired.

Tomlin is top 20 all-time in the history of the NFL in regard to winning percentage.
You combine that with LSU, which to an extent, recruits itself and add the name recognition of Tomlin. These kids have grown up with him being the HC of the Picksburgh Stillers, and on the in home visit, momma will get all wet with Tomlin being in the house.

Tomlin would MURDER IT at LSU, and he is clearly the top pick for this job if he wants it.

Well put. He’d be a great hire.

Dude, Tomlin would wreck shop at LSU. Give him control and watch him work. The guy is intelligent. I think he could figure out how to hire good recruiters, and I also think he would be able to step into the living rooms of recruits, and leave a a good impression. Hell, Recruits would be beating the door down to play for this guy.

That said, no way the guy is going to go back to college when he’s been in the NFL for 2 decades. Successfully

I don't get why he would leave NFL.

Even if the Steelers get worse he could easily find the next NFL job possible.

He is a top 3-5 NFL coach ATM. I just don't know how well that would translate to college right now. People just assume he would wreck it in recruiting, but I always prefer a currently successful college coach if possible.

The 5* recruits would line up to play for him.
