I didn't know much about Brian Kelly and wasn't very interested in learning anything about him until I heard he was hired

My initial reaction was 'Jimbo 2.0' and we'd be 8-4 to 9-3 maybe a 10 or 11 win season here and there

But the more I look into him the more I like him

There really isn't anything to not like outside of maybe being worried about how many more years he has giving full effort.

He's a legit top 10 coach. I've been following him since he was at Cincinnati

He’s a program stabilizer. In all aspects. One of the best. We need that right now badly. This was a solid hire.

Kelly is just simply an elite coach. We could have done a lot worse.

Combining his coaching acumen with LSU raw talent gives good reason to be excited about the program.

Same exact deal as you OP. A little research went a long way.

Kelly is a pro who will bring much needed stability and toughness to an unorganized program.

I remember when he was at Cincinnati.

I never thought he'd leave ND, he wasn't on my list but the more I think about it, the more I like the hire.

One of the best things about kelly is the hires he makes when coordinators move on.

He hired mike elko and replaced him.

We easily could have been 9-3 this year with a depleted roster and a lame duck coach. I’m calling it now, undefeated next season! Bama will be our toughest game.

I think he’s worried about his legacy and lack of championships. If anything, he may come out with a huge arse chip on his shoulder.

I’m from mount pleasant where CMU is located and Kelly’s tenure there is the golden era of cmu football.. Antonio brown and Dan LeFeavor were bad arse at cmu in those days. I also graduated from GVSU where kelly won 3 national titles. I can tell you from first hand experience that kelly is a winner at every stop and will win it all here at LSU. Great hire.

I'll admit i'm with you. At first I wasn't too excited with the hire, but as I did my research and checked his recruiting at ND and what he was playing with.

I'm pretty excited now. And, I think the fit is perfect for LSU right now. His style is what LSU really needs right now. No bullshite type of guy. I like it.

One last thing to add. I think a lot of the negative reactions is because everyone was so hyped about the 'big game hunter'/white whale hire. The Lincoln Riley deal kinda took the wind out of the sails for a lot of people.

So he can spot coaching talent, something else that will be nice
