If you’re Pruitt, why would you hire Freeze?

If the offense succeeds, folks will want Freeze to get the head job (especially if the defense continues to struggle)... if he fails, both are getting fired.

I get why fans want it... but it just seems like a risky move for JP.

Freeze was a successful SEC head coach, won a sugar bowl, and was one fluky play away from winning the SECW... Gus was Tulsa’s OC.

I think it's a risk but it's a calculated risk. Freeze is so tainted that he may never be a head coach in the SEC again, so Pruitt gets his offensive genius but with a reduced risk of Freeze coming for his job.

Frankly this scenario, along with Freeze and O having a previous relationship from working together at Ole Miss, is the reason I thought Freeze would be attractive to O.

Freeze has beaten Bama 2 years in a row before. How many coaches can say that?

VOLS total defensive went from being ranked in the 90s in 2017 to 50s this year.

Offense stayed in the 120s both years, lol.

Germy's defense will be fine.

because hugh can run an offense AND beat SABAN

briles is staying at UH, kiffin is staying at FAU. kinsbury went to USC. hugh is the best left.

Pruitt can call a D, hugh can call O.

If i am JP i am not letting hugh leave knoxville without a deal.

Is this Ed Orgeron logic?

Pruitt will continue to dominate Auburn, both on the trail and on the field, regardless of who the OC is. Worry about trying to get rid of Chip and Gus

It seems like a great hire . A defensive head coach hiring a offensive coach that has proven he can beat Bama and put up points in the SEC seems like a great hire. If Freeze does good he will get another head coaching job.

This was Pruitt's first season and according to expectations, he didn't do too badly. If he hires Freeze and they have success, Freeze is going to get another HC job, but that doesn't put Pruitt on the hot seat.

To beat Alabama, while placing Tennessee in jeopardy of the death penalty.

So Freeze would have an open permit to cheat in Tennessee like he did at Ole Miss?

That's awesome!

At least y'all would be competitive again.

Saban wanted to hire Freeze last year, guy is legit at calling plays (and hookers).

I think pairing him with a defensive coach like Pruitt is genius, I just didn’t want to see him in Baton Rouge or Athens.
