well i do understand that even a very smart person can succumb to emotional thinking
but if boosters of UT are trying to force UT's hands, then that says to me they were never really high on Herman to begin with. it just seems like a huge leap that after this hail mary (by boosters), Herman would be so involved in emotional thinking that he'd not see the writing on the wall with this shite

It doesn't. It's a Hail Mary to try and blow up the deal with lsu and hopefully give UT time to fire Strong and swoop in with a huge offer.
Herman has to be furious with UT for leaking this the night before his game. I'm sure he wanted to tell his kids personally.

rationally and logically, this is how to read the situation
and of course LSU isn't going to leak shite b/c we're in radio silence out of respect

This only reinforces the idea that ut is high drama and too much of a headache to deal with. Early reports suggested that Herman was concerned about this.

There is just no way Herman's camp would leak last night. No way. Even if it was his strategy, he'd probably do it right after Houston kicked off or righ after the game ends.

The same way it killed the Miles to Michigan deal(s). It puts pressure and spotlight the coach. Everyone knows what's going on and talks fire up. Money appears out of nowhere and counter offers are made.
