O supposedly wanted Briles.

But why?
He expect to be a lapdog and allow the dline coach dictate the offense?

O thinks Ensminger’s offense helped get him the job. He believes in Steve.

The first name out of O’s mouth for OC after A&M was Steve. It’s always been Steve for O. The question has only been, would Ensminger want it?

So did O "believe in Steve" when he said he would surround himself with the best coordinators?

Does O consider Steve an elite coordinator? If so, he is probably the only person in the world and he doesn't get to re-define this word to suit is personal interest.

I have one reason. Baylor. LSU would also invite issues with Freeze. If LSU looks for a safe choice it’s Ensminger. Might also be reshuffling of some other coaches responsibilities and another hire to help coach QB s.

If Orgeron fires the highest paid OC in the country, and then promotes Ensminger, then you’ll have your answer.

There are plenty of safe choices not including Ensminger.

The better question to be asking is if the powers that be blocked Briles why did they hire Alleva. His baggage is far more worse, any other university that happens at the pr image alone would’ve sank the entire Athletic dept.

Do you know the real story of the Duke incident?

"Another hire to help coach QBs." Man do you know how utterly shitty that sounds?

Well, O doesn't get to redefine the terms "elite" and "best".

Alleva's black eye was being overzealous with prosecuting innocent kids of alleged rape. Briles' black eye is allegedly being complicit in allowing rapes to happen.

The entire idea of the criminal justice system is that it's better to potentially let guilty people go free than to punish an innocent person. In a way railroading innocent kids and a coach you are the boss of without waiting for facts is worse than what Kendal may have done.

Obviously a university isn't the court system, but it's a fact the extent of Briles' involvement in the Baylor Scandal is unknown. We know Joe punished innocent kids.

He is no worse than Petrino, Sark, or Alleva as far as past mistakes are concerned.

Hmmm...let'e see...1) extramarital affair, 2) alcoholism, 3) 50 plus counts of rape including 5 instances of gang rape where 10 or more players were involved.

Hmmm...not sure about that...

They will allow O to be as goofy as he wants with his name and that would be Ensminger. They however will not allow him to make LSU appear to be OK with bad actors. It does not matter if the guy is guilty or innocent, he was in the middle of a terrible situation and is identified with it. LSU won't be identified along with him by showing tacit approval with his hiring. It is not worth it to them.

Ensminger is not currently named in a sexual assault suit.

Because Ensminger helped O undermine miles resulting in Miles firing and O getting the big job.
