Ole Miss will match any offer he gets.

That is essentially what OP is saying and has already happened. They made an offer that’d match anyone, yet crickets, no signing from him.

Miss hasn’t won a National Championship in 65 years for a reason.

They’ve never won a Nati. All 3 they claim ‘59-62, they finished 3rd in the AP poll with a loss and/or tie. They don’t have any Nati.

I know Syracuse finished 1st in the AP poll in a year Ole Miss claims.

Kiffin is not coming. No coach is going to make an announcement right now with 4 games left to play. Kiffin knows what he is doing. His agent is working behind the scenes to get the best deal for Kiffin. OM will pay a shite ton of money to keep Kiffin. Sexton is just working the other teams buffing prices.

This is true but not for the reason you suggest. If Kiffin signed an extension in the middle of the season it won’t change anything and it would hurt Ole Miss. He has made it clear. He does not sign deals in the middle of the season and the reason he doesn’t do that is because he’s a professional coach who wants to give his full attention to the football season.

But there’s another reason he isn’t signing an extension. Kiffin is already living comfortably and a new deal isn’t going to be life changing. By signing an extension with Ole Miss it is only increasing our commitment to Lane, not the reverse. It goes to show you how little most of the posters on here know about contract law.

Lane’s buyout is 5 mil if he leaves. If he signs a new deal it is still going to be a non-factor for him leaving. Why? Because Lane holds all the cards. He will work where he wants and decide when he wants. If he signed an extension it wouldn’t change that.

But if he signed an extension do you know what would change? The amount of media attention he gets from the coaching carousel. Lane is getting so much media attention it’s ridiculous. What is he doing with that attention? Believe it or not he’s promoting Mississippi and recruiting people to come to the SIP. Go look at his X account. He’s recruiting guys.

Ask yourself if you’re a recruit right now whether it be high school or out of the portal is there any question who the best coach in the nation is? No, there’s really not. It’s Clearly Lane Kiffin. So it helps our recruiting and it furthers our purpose to keep him in that limelight.

So if he signed an extension, it doesn’t really change anything except the speculation and media attention. The only one who’s being played here are the people who think they’re going to hire away Lane Kiffin.

Don't know, but they have enough big money donors to keep him from walking away if it's about the money. But it isn't about the money.

Then why won’t they help their athletic department?

Has anyone considered the longer he holds out the more it hurts both UF and LSU… so drag it out, mess with their searches, go to the playoffs and stay at ole Miss for probably the same money he says he doesn’t care about. These are both conference rivals after all.

That’s what I’d do anyway.

Ain’t nothing between Florida and Ole Miss resembling a rivalry.

Objectively speaking I think he either stays or goes to Florida for big money. No state income tax, strong talent base, and way more options for free time than Miss. or Louisiana. Yeah you could say he can fly anywhere but still. Outside of tradition the gap between LSU and Florida isn’t that big in my opinion. Just the way it is. Not what I want. Let the downvotes pour in.

No, sexton wants a bidding war. Signing that early prevents it
