LSU will have to rebuild. We will look back in the coming years and see that this botched head coach hire was the nail in the coffin that Miles built.
We had a chance to get a young offensive minded head coach in Herman and whiffed badly.
Alleva should be fired

Coach O knows and has plenty of good coaching connections at both college and NFL levels-he will bring in a good OC!!

Why do people act like Kiffin and Briles are the only decent coordinators out there?
It's like Fisher, Herman and O being the only choices in the world for head coach.
Why is there an overfixation on 2-3 candidates for each prominent position?

O is on a short leash with no buyout. As long as he can keep the team loaded, we'll be fine long term.

Then why are you suggesting briles? He would be a sacrifice bunt at best.

You are exactly right. But the way our administration acts and doesn't interview anybody, we are probably overshooting with 2-3 candidates... knowing LSU they'll screw us good and keep Ensminger

I think you're missing something, and let me premise this by saying, I wasn't an O guy, if it were me, I would've thrown money at Herman and Jimbo. But I've accepted the hire and I think it can work ... am willing to give him a chance.
The point you're missing is that O is a better executive than Alleva. By "executive," I mean one who is in a position of authority, has to make decisions. Alleva sucks. He is a horrible executive. The thing I actually like about is O is that he acts quickly -- he fired Cameron like his first day on the job; he fired Peveto rather quickly. No dicking around, no waiting til the guy got another job (like Miles did.)
So, yeah, if Alleva were in charge of hiring an OC, we'd be fricked. But Orgeron knows that he has a chance to succeed at LSU; if nothing else, I do believe he loves LSU, and I do believe he'll work his arse off. I also believe he finagled his way to getting this job, using the local media to shill for him; but you know what? He saw his chance and he took it. What I'm saying is, I can't see any way he is going to keep Ensminger as permanent OC. He will bring in a spread guy, and it will be someone who has a good reputation. Yeah, we may overpay for the new OC. But I think we'll get a good one.

I can't believe these Briles threads continue to appear. Some of you people belong at Penn State.

I am pulling for Canada but there are several others... I expect we are waiting out the Kiffin situation (mon or tues) if he gets an HC we move on.
Personally, I am pulling for him in Houston!

Starting Art Briles threads should be permabanable. Somebody so fricking stupid & clueless as to how things work are in no way capable of bringing anything constructive to the board. Or at least corralled to the OT

Why does he deserve a second chance? He has not admitted a thing beyond "I made a few mistakes". Period, end of what he said. He gets no second chance when he won't admit to what he did in the first place. Can just see him wearing a LSU shirt, walking into a recruit's house, and there sits mother & daughter. Can you begin to imagine how they would feel having that man in their home? Two of his former players are in prison for rape, others are waiting trial, & one victim was gang raped by 5 former players. And Briles & Baylor covered it all up.

Briles doesn't have to teach Sunday school lessons. Just give me an offense that can pass for 250 yards.
Posted on 12/2/16 at 5:53 pm to tigerintexas777
You would get at least 350 a game with 250 on the ground.

Hire Sark before saban makes him the OC

I think everyone agrees that O is a good recruiter. But you can look at his classes at Ole Miss and know immediately that he's not this recruiting god send that some people clame. His classes were pretty much the same as cutcliffe's, and not as good as Houston Nutt or Freeze.
To continue to recruit at a high level, he will also have to win games. At least 9 games a year. I'm afraid if he can not reach that mark, recruiting will suffer.
HS players want to win.

All I'm saying is that while he's here, he needs to be able to recruit good classes. If he can't, that's when things can get scary long term. I personally believe O would have not even been considered without his recruiting ability, regardless of wins and losses his interim year. He probably wouldn't have been considered for the interim job.
The only thing that gives me hope is that his contract is basically saying "this is short term until further notice". He's cheap and he can be let go easily with no buyout. Look at Helfrich at Oregon. Let go after one bad year. Helton at USC. He was on the hot seat already earlier in the year. As long as this is the situation with O, I can live with it.
If he starts losing recruits next year (especially LA recruits) and/or losing games and failing to be competitive, he needs to be on the hot seat immediately. That's how he needs to be treated and I hope that is the case.

Kendal Briles would be the better hire. You get the same offensive philosophy, minus the baggage

Holy shite! You are comparing recruiting at ole miss to recruiting at LSU? Wow
