re: If Kiffen wants a HC job, why wouldn't he just stay at Bama for another year?

Folks its a simple human condition. 2 successful hard driving A personalities can only take each other so long before there is a natural divide...Saban doesn't want him around next year and he has outgrown the role, Saban, challenge etc. and yes his divorce complicates things- Kiffin is a human being. Changing gears will he come to LSU ? Let it play out ...understand one thing if he does come to LSU set your expectations we are merely renting him

The only positive for LK coming to LSU would be if he could beat Bama. That would probably put him in play for an SEC HC job.

I mean Saban doesn't have a great track record as a good person to work for.
Tell you what...go back and look at the length of tenure of Alabama assistants since he's been there, then come back and say that with a straight face.
While you're at it, look at the number of assistants who have served multiple stints with him.

If he comes here and beats Saban his stock will be at an all time high
And if he goes there and 2017 is a disaster for him and Orgeron, he's fricked.
Which team has a better chance of finishing 8-4 or 7-5?

Maybe because his contract is expiring in Feb. and Bama isn't going to renew it?

EXACTLY...if Saban wanted to lock him up he would have done so by now. Kiffi is going somewhere. The more interesting short term reality is that this "Kiffin" media distraction has to be pissing Saban off. This will end soon because Alabama's preparation for the NC will be impacted each day this lingers.

If you don't think Saban is hard to work for, you are crazy. Some coaches are willing to put up with him because A)they want to learn and B)they want to build their resume. There are plenty of coaches that would never work for him.

What else can he prove as an OC? He's not going to get an HC job unless he goes way down, to a lower end Group of Five or maybe even FCS.
Another year as a dominant OC isn't going to change that.
The only reason he would go to LSU is to get out under the shadow of Nicky. The shadow of O is much smaller.

Not if the rumor circulating on Alabama radio is true.

I think this is a mutual parting of the ways, more on Kiffin's side but it does seem like their professional relationship has hit a crossroads and they will be going their separate ways after the bowl games "if not sooner"

Your spelling of Kiffin renders any point you made invalid.

Kiffin doesn't need to prove anything
I agree . But obviously you and I are in the minority across the country. Everyone or most everyone says he has to prove he can control himself out from under Saban.
Therefore the move to LSU makes sense as even more than just a get away from Saban because he treats you like a child.

Kiffin just simply would rather not work for the guy.
that may be true, but Kiffin isn't going to screw up his career just because he wants to get away from Saban. If he has to stick with Saban another year, I think he'll do it.
They both may not like each other, but neither can argue with the results.
