I'm not saying I'm in love with Meyer etc. but the guy can recruit. I don't think he'd have the same types of problems at UF b/c many kids who play at OSU have wanted to play at OSU since they could walk

If he puts together the staff people are talking about, then it would be great for OSU. The recruiting ability of Meyer, Fickell, Herby etc would just be insane

Rumors are strong he'd be the QB coach

“If I left (the show) I would want to go coach,” Herbstreit told Travis. “I’d want to be a high school coach at a program where it really mattered or I’ve talked with Urban (Meyer) about if he gets back into coaching being a quarterbacks coach and eventually an offensive coordinator for him.”

seems stupid to limit your search like that

Guy would give more celebrity to the staff, and that obviously helps you recruit. Not sure if he's the most qualified guy, but he knows CFB

It's part of the culture. Look what happened last time we hired a coach who thought of The Game as just another game: 2-10-1

Same with Rich Rod and Michigan.

Herbie and Spielman (to a lesser degree) would bomb horribly. They would leave low-stress dick jobs for the pressure cooker, assuming they could do it on celebrity alone. They can not.

I have no problem with an non-Ohio guy so long as he keeps plent of Ohio guys on staff to recruit. That includes Fick.

Fick took over a shitstorm and shoudn't be faulted for that.

Take a look at the list of coaches that have won the BCSNC in the last 10 years and then tell me that it's stupid to limit he search to coaches with OSU/Ohio connections.

UF is 23 players under the 85 limit, there's a reason for that.

If Ohio State does not get Meyer, I would like to see tOSU go after Gary Patterson or Chris Peterson for the job.

10 Chizik - no ties to Ohio
08/06 Meyer - from Ohio
07 Miles - from Ohio
04 Carroll - was assistant coach at Ohio State
02 - Tressel - from Ohio
01 no Ohio ties
Stoops - from Ohio
Saban -
West Virginian, played at Kent State, was assistant coach at Ohio State

You knew that was where I was coming from.

actually, no i wasn't. That's fine that they all have ties to Ohio, but its still stupid to limit your choices to guys with local ties, since only 1 of those guys is available.
