It still means nothing. He could sign it and still leave at the end of the season after his Natty rum. Why would a coach want to leave with a chance? Leaving, or signing with another school now, makes no sense to me. This man wants a National Championship. Why would he give up that chance to leave early?

If a natty is his goal he isn’t staying at OM.

SURELY Ole Miss isn't stupid enough to put a contract in front of Lane without some kind of clause about him leaving early considering the current situation.

Because once he signs the extension, LSU and UF move on and the opportunity to go to another school waits for another year or if he really wants LSU or Florida, he may never get the chance again to coach there.

He had a Top 3 roster last year and shite the bed losing 3 games.

This year, he has a Top 5 team but probably only a Top 15 roster and is almost certainly in the mix to win the natty if they get the right draw.

This is new CFB Clown World - anything is possible.

The new contract (or contract extension) will have a new buyout congruent with the length of term and new pay rate. So it definitely will not "mean nothing". It will probably mean 100 mill or more "somethings".

He’s in the mix because of a baby shot soft schedule, which was pure luck of the draw.

The only top 15 team he’s faced, UGA, drug their nuts all over OM.

Never say never.

A few injured opponents, couple lucky breaks, a few call go your way, kick 6, fumbled punt, Hail Mary...

Beat OU in Norman, who will be Top 10 in the latest CFP ranking.

Georgia won by 1 possession and OM lead at the half - what a nut dragging.

Ole Miss had 8 drafted players last year, 4 in the first two rounds.

Ole Miss’s defense didn’t stop the Sooners from scoring on a single possession the entire game. OU stopped Lane’s offense 3x in the 2nd half.

That was the difference.

You said Top 3 ROSTER.

247 ranked the roster as #20 in the country. The roster takes in depth.

Also, Ohio St, GA, TX and Oregon had more players drafted than Ole Miss.

They had some great players, but it takes deep roster to win a natty.

OM did not have a TOP 3 Roster last year.

I think you mean Georgia, and that would be the difference between Ole Miss and an actual contender.
