It has to be for recruiting, and that’s ok. But if LSU hires Raymond they’ll have to hire another DBs coach for development because Raymond is a good recruiter who can’t develop DBs. The reason Aranda hired Busch is because he knew CR couldn’t develop players, even though he could recruit them.

I think the rumor was Rushing and Raymond

And obviously a new DL coach (Elston?)

I’d imagine they’re waiting to announce them all the same time, my guess is Elston is the holdup.

Don’t know much about rushing.. I did a quick google search but basically could only find out where he coached. Anything that makes him stand out?

Rushing could lock up Bussey but has he developed anyone at A&M worth mentioning?

Raymond coached corners and Busch coached safeties, stupid. How did Busch develop the corners?

I’d ask you what the Aggies say about him but they’re celebrating landing dudes out the portal who had no legit offers from P5 schools so idk if I value their opinion too much. Elko loading up on 3rd team all MAC performers and they’re acting like they are cleaning up

Ehh, people keep saying this. Not so sure that's exactly it.

They got Busch in 2018, the year the NCAA added another on-field coach. Almost all of those new on-field coaching roles went to defense, with most splitting DB duties between CBs and Safeties. Some split DL into DT/ DE-edge, some split up LBs.

At any rate, LSU got a guy who had coached under Aranda, and who coincidentally had also done the CB/ Safety thing with Raymond at Utah State.

This happened when an additional on-field coach was allowed by the NCAA. In a time where everyone has been airing out the ball, having one person handle DBs alone isn't as common as it once was. LSU is far from the only school that splits that duty. It wasn't about CR not being able to do his job as much as the job changed.
