Did you say the same thing about Tom Herman?
Napier carries about the same risk that Herman did. Only big difference between the 2 is Herman is under the Urban Meyer tree while Napier comes from Saban.

This is stupid. There are HUGE differences. Herman was a top flight offensive coordinator at a top 5 school, Napier has never been anything more than a mediocre coordinator for a few years.

Also, Herman coached at Houston, which is bigger program than ULL and he won his conference and went to a major bowl where he defeated a major P5 program.

Napier is unlike Herman in many ways. Nobody would hire Napier as an OC at a top school. He's a position coach like Coach O was, who became a head coach.

Simple question. If Napier is not the HC at USL is he even discussed as a "candidate" on this board?

Sure he would. He may not be very high on the list, but he would be mentioned as a candidate. Much like Neal Brown.

So many Joe Alleva’s on this board. They just want Napier because they don’t want to get turned down by a top target or aren’t patient enough to see this through.

Yes

His record is good and he’s beat Iowa State when they were a top 10 team.

People have brought up the guy at Coastal Carolina who has a worse record the last 4 years and no where near the background Napier has.

The only advantage being at ULL has is that we are all aware how fricking bad ULL has always been.

What's the difference between Coach O's background pre-LSU and Napier's as of now?

Both position coaches at top program, recruiters and had head coaching gigs, albeit O was HC at a big SEC school and Napier a G5 school.

Success as a HC at a School
Prior to LSU

You must mean like 98% Celsius, right?
Cause, if you’re measuring in American, you’re 100% out of your tree.

Napier has never run a great offense while Riley is likely the best, most innovative offensive coach in football.

Napier is a WRs coach/recruiter more than anything else. That's why he's marketed as a "program builder" and his schematics are ignored in the hype.

This

you have to be delusional as shite to put his name anywhere near Riley's

As stated, coaching in the SEC =/= Sun belt.

Napier was too afraid to take the Auburn, Miss St., and Ole Miss jobs according to Napier supporters, so it seems even he knew he'd fail miserably.

Seriously?

Well for starters, one has been a SUCCESSFUL head coach
Napier has been a Coordinator and ran his own offense, 0 has never been above a position coach before being a failure of a HC.

Napier is not Orgeron, no matter how much you people try to make him out to be.

If Napier wasn't at UL, and at another smaller school no one would have a problem with him

Y'all say people who like Napier its because he is "one of us" , its bullshite..its the other way around, yall hate him because he is at UL and that is the only reason there is for you to hate him.

He is by no means my first choice, but if he is the fallback option we end up with, we got a good coach.

once..as a scape goat for Dabo to save his arse when first getting started...the second time there was a coaching change and they wanted him to stay and he went to be the HC at UL instead.

Saban never even considered Napier for anything more than WR coach.

Didn't say he was. Saying his resume is more similar than people are willing to admit.

No one "hates" him. His coaching abilities are wildly exaggerated relative to his resume and a lot of that has to do with his Louisiana ties, obviously.

Maybe 5th or 6th choice, which means he might as well accept one of the "lowly" jobs at TCU or VaTech....you know, the jobs his supporters claim are beneath him.

He took the ULL head job in 2018. Edwards publicly said he had the opportunity to stay on as OC at Arizona State.

quote:

As stated, coaching in the SEC =/= Sun belt.

And going 10-25 =\=37-12

Of course the computing is different but so are the teams they were coaching. Ed O was the worst HC in Ole Miss history. Napier is the best HC in ULL’s history by a large margin.

Or he’s smart enough to pick his upper unit.
You think Kirby Smart didn’t have offers before UGA? he was Saban’s DC for 8 years.

This is just frickin dumb. Name another non-P5 coach besides Fickell being brought up as a candidate for the LSU job.

The napier bots on this board are seriously pathetic.
