I don't "hate" him. His resume leaves a lot to be desired.

We've seen the cheap saban imitators repeatedly face plant in the the p5. Napier very well could be amazing but I think he needs to prove it on a bigger stage than the Sun Belt. There's nothing Napier does that can't be replicated by another coach on the list.

I wasn't saying that as a compliment to Napier. Mainly mentioned Herman's name to show how risky of a hire he was at UT. Herman was not good at UT. I don't think Napier would be good at LSU or any other big program.

If you want to say Herman > Napier, then I won't argue with that.

Napier is honestly the best coach in the entire country at any level in any sport. Napier is also the best recruiter around, he actually taught Saban how to recruit at Bama. Did you know Napier coached with Saban at Alabama? Napier is a can’t miss prospect, hopefully he’s willing to take the LSU job, he gets offers for everything but just stays at ULL because reasons. Napier Napier Napier.

He's already mastered 85% of tProcess...he hones in and gets that remaining 15% he's basically going to be Neo in The Matrix

Take a look at the comparison in offensive production. Napier isn't exactly impressive on the offensive side of the ball. That's my biggest concern with the guy. His offense is bland and consistently ranks middle of the pack in both yards and points per game.

Ok just to address all the attacks on Napier,,,,

We as LSU fans should not be laughing at Napier or UL when they have been ranked higher than us the last two years.

While our dumpster is at a 4 alarm fire theirs does not even smell bad.

You do know if we hired Billy Napier he would be the winning-est Division 1 coach that LSU has ever hired. Go look at the records of our last 5 hires in Division 1.

As to say he has no passing game?? Levi Lewis is not the prolific passer but gets it done when needed. Napier recruits huge O-lines and balances running and passing...No coach in football would throw if they were running it down everyones throat..Still Levi has broken all the passing records at UL...Kid is a winner, probably better passers on the bench. Hard to take him off the field..
What scares me with the Reilly's and Jimbo's is it will be 10 year contracts for 100 million....good or bad we are stuck with them for a decade..I have no clue who we should hire but it's a safe bet that LSU will probably screw it up...They have always hired the cheapest guy...Oh but wait we have Scott Wood....yes but we have the same board and the same money people so we'll see..

So, he has been connected to all of these jobs in the past because he is at UL?

So, say you’re Louisiana coach Billy Napier, and for a couple of cycles now you’ve passed on multiple jobs for multiple reasons. To varying degrees, Napier has been connected to vacancies at Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Baylor, Tennessee, Missouri and Arkansas.

This isnt some small paper it Lafayette...its Sports Illustrated...people around here just cant get around the fact that he is the coach at UL. Billy Napier is a up and coming name in College Football whether yall like it or not and it has nothing to do with UL. Its time for people around here to accept that.

I would be disappointed if we hired Billy Napier after offering 12m/yr for an elite coach. However, I do think he would be a very successful coach here and after 3-4 years we would all be very happy with the hire

Well yeah..and as I said before, he is not my number 1, not my number 2 either (Riley and Aranda) but I think he could do good things at LSU if he got the job and I would not melt down if he is where we end up, we have hired much worse

How many legit offers did he have?

Judging by the way Napier has played this wouldn't be all that shocked if it were his people putting all these declined stories out there to make him more appealing for this opening.

Napier more and more seems like a guy running a political campaign and fooling the same people that took O's bait last time.

I’m a Napier fan, but he’s a big risk, with potentially high upside.

This!!!

My daughter attends ULL and is in the band. I have watched most ULL games since she started in 2018. My observations about Napier.

1- His teams play very hard and appear well coached. I don't remember many "home run" plays the defense gave up.
2- His offense is pretty well designed. Not many deep throws though. He prefers using his athletes to get to the perimeter and in space.
3- He often makes one or two strategic errors a game. The 3rd and 4th quarter against App St in 2020 was brutal.

I do like him alot and think he and Aranda have the most upside.

This is just frickin dumb. Name another non-P5 coach besides Fickell being brought up as a candidate for the LSU job.

Name one who is 30-5 in the last 3 seasons.

I’m not saying he should be our first Choice but he’s a fine failsafe.

I hated the Orgeron hire even before it was made. I knew where it was going as soon as he was made interim

Riley is likely the best, most innovative offensive coach in football.
Shut down consistently by one of the other candidates for the job. If the coach's biggest claim to fame isn't reliable when it counts, go with the candidate whose MO is.

Like SFP alluded to....there's nothing all that unique to Napier, he's a recruiter that markets himself as little Saban. It seems to be working for him in a small pond at ULL, I think he just would have been better served to prove his message works elsewhere

I get “2018 Steve Ensminger pre Joe Brady” vibes from the offense

I always question that…as for what interview/info do you have that allows you to accurately make a statement like that?

The more you hate on the guy, the better he looks to me. You're approaching Peej level of reliably bad takes.
