I've heard there is only a 17% chance of Mack returning.

69% chance of Saban taking job

14% chance of Coach O bringing the pain train to UT and making Austin become even weirder.

No one should've been expecting anything to happen until next week in the first place.

Most likely. However, the market-rate for that title will almost certainly change after Texas has made their offer.

This line of thinking I don't get. If someone else takes the Texas gig, what's keeping Bama from ripping up that contract extension they've reportedly offered Saban?

Saban's bargaining position is nil once the Texas gig is taken. They may just as well tell him to GFY and find us a good kicker for a change. And since he loves Tuscaloosa so much he'll just sit there and take it.

Saban needs to tell them both to write their best offers on a blank piece of paper and slide it across to him. Face down. It could be covered live by both SEC network and Longhorn network. Now thats reality tv.

This is probably the best reality television suggestion I've heard proposed.

UT confident that Saban will take the job, but unsure how Alabama will react once Sexton shows Alabama what Texas has offered.

Off-topic, but pertinent to your post. From reddit:

quote:

11 gay men and 1 straight man are locked in a house. The object for the gay men is to find out who isn't gay. Once a week someone gets outvoted, until 2 are left, or the straight man is out. If the gays manage to outvote him, they win 1 million dollars. If the straight man is among the 2 last people in the house in the end, he wins 1 million dollars.
Now here's the twist: None of the men are actually gay, they just all think they are the one straight man.

Has anyone considered that Chicken, and not Jimmy Sexton, is driving all this in order to increase traffic to Tigerdroppings? Thus, increasing the likelihood he'd get an offer to take over for shaggybevo.

It's happening.

I've been tracking chicken's flights to Austin.

I think the kicker is the up front bonus money from the boosters.

You think it somehow comes up short and miraculously becomes a win for the other team?

Nothing real earth-shattering here...Some of this might be speculation mixed in with real facts, but the timeline seems plausible. Only real surprise is that Mack could return, but I personally believe that is a ploy to give the illusion that he is in control and to let him go out on his terms...we shall see.

that sounds like the most legit info we have gotten yet

Story certainly has changed..
what has changed? Mack's boss (Powers) just got a vote of confidence from the UT BoR...Mack has powerful allies within UT...not everyone wants him out. Mack has a severance package offer to retire now...perhaps he wants some of the pie being offered to Saban (eg, his $2.5+ million buyout plus someone large annual payment through 2020).

My story has never been that Saban was leaving. I have already contended that it wasn't a good move at this stage in his life, but if money is an issue, Alabama will have a hard time matching UT...and, at the end of the day, maybe Saban just wants a change of scenery.

The constant crying about Chicken from some of these Alabama fans is the best part about this board. Chicken is just out to get you guys, everything he's done to the SECrant and teams boards has been just one big scheme leading up to this week.

David Ash is finished with football - still having serious headaches and supposedly has been advised to give it up.

Announcement was never going to be before all of the weekend activities (awards, banquet, big recruiting weekend) are completed and the dead period starts on the 16th.

20 years ago, no one would even know Mack was on his way out until the announcement - things used to leak out a little, now it is like a dam breaking and anyone can write anything and people run with it.

I think Mack announces on Monday and the new coach is named Tuesday. Would expect the package to be around 6 years @$45MM and 'considerations' plus $5-6MM for assistants.

I have no idea if it is Saban or some other 'big name' and if I did, I would still not say who.
