I thought Saban was waiting on the Penn St Job?

All this talk about Saban to ND, but I was always under the impression that Saban always wanted the Penn St. Job

Saban would never go to Penn State. His ego would never allow for it. At Michigan State, he hated being in the shadow of Tom Izzo and the Michigan football program. Just imagine how he would feel about following Paterno.
I know Alabama fans still worship the Bear but their program has been very unstable since his departure. If Saban can win several championships there, the man would get more love and appreciation from their fans then he would ever get anywhere else. Oh and he's 58 years old. I doubt he wants to leaves the monster that he's building at Alabama to start over again.

I wouldnt bet on that...I think a man like Saban enjoys a challenge...and while he has not won anything at bama (yet), I think he knows he has rebuilt the program, and you have to wonder, is he thinking - "can I do that again at ND"....

Well- i have always said Saban or Meyer would be fools to leave the jobs they have now but what do I know about coaching? I do know a little bit about money however and you can bet your arse the loser of the SEC CC game will have a Brink's truck parked in their driveway later that evening. I'm telling ya now-one of them will be approached with the full backing of the Irish Bank!!!

I wouldnt bet on that...I think a man like Saban enjoys a challenge...and while he has not won anything at bama (yet), I think he knows he has rebuilt the program, and you have to wonder, is he thinking - "HOW MUCH WOULD THEY PAY ME at ND"....

Meyer or Saban would take ND to the BCS every year and getting to the NC will always be easier. A big time coach at ND will have tht program hyped as one of the beat teams even if they are severely overrated.
ND will offer more money than UF or Bama could realistically afford. So they are just going to have to turn down the job.
I think Meyer is less likely to leave since he has already made people forget the great Spurrier. I also expect UF to win the NC again.

Saban will never leave Bama, he's got too many invetsment opportunities through Bama alums. It's just too much money to walk away from. Besides Saban feels like this is the top job in the country anyway. Penn State will never be a Big Ten Champ as long as OSU and Michigan play football.

I don't think people can expect him to win possibly 3 every 4 years forever. I think many believe the SEC is just too strong.

Hes just playing the game. ND gets him a raise, so Penn St will have to offer him top dollar. Its 3 hrs from his hometown, and puts his wife near NYC and the East Coast. And the Bear's shadow is way much larger than Joe Pa's

1. Saban never felt threatened by Izzo, who is one of his best friends.
2. Who the hell would take the Alabama job in which you "live in the shadow" of Bear Bryant but would feel overshadowed by Joe Paterno.

I don't think that Saban will leave Bama for the ND job. But, to think that Bama alums have more investment opportunities than either ND or PSU alums is retarded at best.
