If Curtis Johnson was the guy at least you'd know they'd be solid at developing WR's.

I at least give credit to O for that. The shifts and motions were a distraction and waste of time for our team.

quote:
"O wants a coordinator that has an innovative scheme but will take input on tempo and protections based on the opponent's defense" "Aranda would be part of that input process. That's the reason Aranda was part of the meeting with O and Canada after Troy."

So Canada didn't want to hear from an excellent minded defensive coach on what he saw opponents doing? Wow.

The reasoning behind the shifts is to see how the defense will react and try to find the mismatch based off of that information gained. The exact same concept that Dave Aranda tries to do with his packages, creating a mismatch. The difference is Canada's offense is reactionary while Aranda's defense forces the mismatches. They're not just doing it for the hell of it.

This is a GREAT post, and makes perfect sense. I have mixed feelings about Freeze with his indiscretions, but could live with it. I also like Gilbert and Sark, and the Saints connections are not are interesting -- especially Lombardi who is a QB coach. The common denominator with all of these mentioned with the exception of Gilbert is that O has worked with them all.

so then....not the offense you hired him to implement

Well it depends on how you interpret that. It actually lines up with what O was quoted saying which was to reduce "some" of the shifts and motions and simplify the offense. This was after all the penalties early on and after the Miss St game. I've said all along I don't fault O for requesting this based on what the offense was doing. I just wondered if his approach to Canada and exact direction was an issue. If the "source" is correct then Canada was the one that overreacted.

I took that to mean for the Troy game. You don't have to be fancy to beat them. Just smash em in the mouth

That's the way it was told to me.

Basically, "Let's take Troy coming to town as an opportunity to cut back on the penalties and work on the straight ahead run game and the route tree."

Ed doesn’t have the clout to hire who he wants. He also didn’t have the respect of his assistant so he went to the AD

I would be ecstatic if it was Hugh Freeze. That would completely turn this shite show around.

Did Orgeron ask Aranda to scale back his defense after Miss State and Syracuse? The defense got worked up and down the field those two games. Several key penalties on the defense as well.

When Canada ratfinked to the Alleva, it broke trust. In all organizations when you leapfrog over your direct boss and rat them out like a sissy, it ALWAYD destroys the relationship. From what I hear, EVERYBODY on the staff hated Canada.

Mixed feelings about Freeze

Why if he has promised to change and you attach a compliance person to his arse he is and will remain the only TRUE Tide Killer.....

Even the coaches who studird under Saban have never beaten him why should we expect any other coach but Freeze to beat Saban?

So is Freeze potentially still in the mix?

Maybe the NOLA.com article was strategically timed for this AM. With O's connections in the media, anything's possible.

How does Aranda scale back his D? He's not exactly a blitz happy guy. I agree they struggled. Aranda is also the established guy. Canada was the new guy with the new system. Apples and oranges.
