You would have to put O in that list. He's obviously too good to pass up.

There is but one problem!

Who in the heck wants to be compared to Nick Saban his entire career?

Few can coach at Alabama ...Dabo would get run...

go ahead and bookmark this post

but people will not be lining up to take over the legends job...

there is no way to achieve what he has...

so you will always be the coach that isn't Nick Saban

If I were Dabo, I would want no part of Bama right now. Clemson is a very nice gig, and I'd want to put some distance between Saban and myself. I agree with you, I think they may have to go down their list a bit to get somebody. This may sound crazy, but I think all their success--maybe the most impressive run in the history of college football--makes the job even less desirable than it was after Stallings retired. And they had to go through Mike Price, Mike Dubose, Mike Shula, and Fran before they got to Saban.

Dabo is the right fit for Bama, but even if he were available for LSU, I still think Herman would be #1 on our list. Just like Dabo fits Bama, Herman is the perfect fit for LSU.

You know there's a guy on all these lists who took over for legend Bobby Bowden

Yeah but Bobby sucked arse for a good 7 or 8 years before Jimbo to the reins.

Dabo'll take over after Saban starts shitting the bed with some 7-5 and 6-6 seasons and all will be good.

I love CTH's coaching skill-set, but where did this come from?

What makes Herman a 'perfect fit' for LSU? His deep love of SE Louisiana? All the time he spent down on the Bayou?

Has CTH even lived in the state at any point in his life?

Saban will recommend someone bound to fail, like when he suggested Houston Dale Nutt to replace him at LSU.
So, going by his track record, he'll probably recommend Butch Jones.

Did Saban ever live in Louisiana prior to taking the job? Dietzel?

The big question is when Saban retires, do they downsize the Corporation he's built? Will a new coach even know what to do with 21 Football Analysts and Personnel Directors that are used to being screamed at for saying good morning, coach?

seems like the right personality for LSU and his style of play should fit well with Louisiana talent. While at the same time I just couldn't see Dabo's personality fitting in Louisana.

doubt that Herman would be a serious consideration for Bama HC if Saban hypothetically retired this season. They would be all Dabo and if not him, then some other very experienced big name. LSU needs to swing for the fences while they would just need a safe pick.

LSU job is open.

Thread about UA job being hypothetically open is at the top of the CC board.

Sounds about right.

If Bama is open right now they wouldn't hire Coach O. Just saying.

So why should LSU? Oh yeah, he's from LA. Lol

Explain the want for Dabo.

What separates him as #1 in Bama's eyes?

After he'd allowed FSU to become a shell of its former self.

Strong recruiter with Houston/Texas connections + Louisiana talent + offensive scheme

He's a Bama guy. He's turned Clemson into a perennial contender. He's a top 5 coach in the country right now, and he'll still be relatively young when the GOAT hangs it up.
