Who are their top three candidates?

I assume it would be Herman, then Dabo and then maybe Jimbo?

Dabo. Bama is his dream job. He'll be there if Saban ever retires.

Let's see...he is #1 for LSU, and will be for Texas and USC. That's three top 10 programs.

Because we know we can't get Dabo.

seriously, listen to your tiger friend. If a former LSU player had taken his team to the Natl title game last year, I don't think you'd consider Herman either.

Also, I don't think Herman is really y'alls #1 (though tbf, he clearly is on TR)

I'm not sure Herman would be on their list. I think they'd want someone with more than two years of head coaching experience and someone who has proven they can win at the top level.

Dabo would get the first call.

Then someone like Jimbo.

After that I don't know.

Dabo is #1, despite what some of our fans would like to believe. If the job opens anytime 5+ years from now (and he's still performing at a high level) he's a virtual given. If it opens between now and next 5 years I still think the odds are still very high that he's the coach (family considerations being the only possible kink as he has 2 kids still in school in SC).

Jimbo MIGHT be in the top 3, but I'm not so sure. Same with Herman. Maybe, but not positive.

Pretty much, it's likely Dabo's job whenever it comes open barring something unexpected. If the unexpected happens, I imagine they look at top coaches across country with HC and championship (conference or otherwise) level experience.

1 Dabo
2 Jimbo
3 Kill ourselves

There's nobody else out there I'd hand the reins to.

There is but one problem!

Who in the heck wants to be compared to Nick Saban his entire career?

Few can coach at Alabama ...Dabo would get run...

go ahead and bookmark this post

but people will not be lining up to take over the legends job...

there is no way to achieve what he has...

so you will always be the coach that isn't Nick Saban

I guess for 7 million per, I could handle it

You know there's a guy on all these lists who took over for legend Bobby Bowden

I think they would take into great consideration who Saban recommends.
