Miles lost 3 games with two good, if not great, NFL receivers, a stud NFL running back and a starting NFL QB last year.

He is 8-4 this year and finished 5th in the west behind State and Ole Miss.

If he gets a raise and an extension, then LSUs problems are larger than just Miles.

Hopefully he would resign so the school would owe him nothing

I would not be surprised. If he gets a raise over the foolish rumor that he was going to be Top Pig, He definately will get a raise off of a logical rumor.

Well, then the ball's in his court. He'll have some decisions to make.

If he's bluffing, I'd guess he'll just do what most of us do when turned down for a raise...continue working at his present salary.

Already been talking about this with friends and as you posit , the very worst that can come out of this is for our AD to give him another raise and higher buyout. No raise, if our AD wants him to stay, you make it incentive bases. SAme salary as is and I don't care what Sumlin, Bielema or others are making you base a raise on immediate past performance and miles immediate past performance is to have LSU finishing 5th in the SEC west just as Palmer projected and some of us called him a Negatiger. Again incentive based contract, You win the SEC West Les and you get this bonus, YOu win the SEC Championship and you get this much, You win the Natty and you get this much, If les doesn't like that then don't let the door hit you or your way out.

I like Miles, but I wouldn't give him a raise or an extension. I would call his bluff.

THIS x 1000!!!

He wants to go, let his goofy arse go. If they need a new AD, we'll even throw Alleva in on the package.

You're a dumbass....yea, we had those guys on offense, but we had a crap defense. Furthermore, we won 8 games in the toughest division of the toughest conference with what some claim as the worst qb in the sec this year. He'll Miles should be getting kudos. I'm not even sure why I would bother to respond to such a dumb post.

If he gets a raise Alleva needs to be fired on the spot

Someone posted in another thread that he is very happy with Miles, wants him to stay at LSU, and expects LSU to "sweeten the pot for him" if Michigan seriously comes calling. My question is this: If you want Miles to stay at LSU, will you be ok with Alleva giving him another raise and extension to do it?

No. If anything, Miles needs to be told that more is expected from him at his current level of compensation. If he wants to run back home to the northland, then let him do it. I wouldn't "force" him out tho, I'd just let him make his own decision.

If this does happen then we can talk. But he did deserve one after 2007 and 2011. There was no leveraging before and I highly doubt there would be this time.

Pretty sure those stipulations were and still are in his contract. Hince him getting raises after 2007 and 2011.

There's the right question. Nothing, there is nothing he could do.

Really? Was it one of LSUs best defenses? No. Was it crap? Hell no. You are just making stuff up.

Who recruited and coached the worst QB in the SEC? Moreover, Mississippi State, yes MSU, won 10 games in the same conference with a QB from Louisiana that Miles did not offer until after he had committed to MSU. Furthermore, have you noticed a theme with LSU, Miles and QBs? Mettenberger has better stats against NFL defenses than he had playing under Miles based on number of snaps.

Maybe you should actually think about things before you post them and make yourself look like a fool.

I am saying that there is no way Miles deserves a raise and extension (like Alleva has done in the past when it appears Miles in interesting in another job).

I am not saying fire him. I am saying he is under contract. Let that play out. If he returns LSU to competing for the SEC and National Titles, then you adjust his pay.
