Archie Manning promises TSUN a Nationwide search for the best head coach in the land.

1)Has son Peyton call Tony Dungy, Dungy laughs.

Starts driving to Oxoford from New Orleans home.

2)Stops in Hattiesburg, offers job to Fedora.

gets to Oxford to learn Fedora is no interested

3)Drives 45 more miles from Oxford to Memphis, begs for LeAnne Tuhoys forgiveness and offers Freeze.

Nationwide hunt could have been done with 4 gallons of gas.

I'm usually an optimist but this will be soul crushing, I had high expectations for this search. I feel zero excitement about this hire.

Pretty much how every Ole Miss fan i have talked to feels. I have yet to talk to someone who is excited about this. Nobody likes this hire whatsoever. What the frick was Archie and this committee thinking? Did they actually think this was the best candidate they could get? Getting who's best for Ole Miss my arse. They are settling for the cheapest option just like Pete Boone does. Frick them and this university if this hire goes through.

Ok guys let's get past this. Let's think off all the reasons Nutt was a cancer to the Program and convine ourselves that Freeze won't do it. Whether we are happy about it or not he is most likely the new HC. No matter who the head coach was going to be with our schedule the next 2 years we aren't going bowling. Freeze just needs to start over and be competitive by 2014. What other options do we have?

Smart was never even contacted. That right there says to me that this search was always about the cheapest option. Any program that isn't willing to spend money to improve itself is destined to fail.

Technically you may be right. But that doesn't mean we didn't contact his agent

No shite. They hired the best option. I imagine nobody was hardly interested. The program is going to take a lot of time to build back up. This is ole miss we are talking about, I bleed red and blue but I'm realistic. Most of you boys are relatively new fans, you want somebody like Saban to come in and instantly compete. That will never happen. I trust that the best hire was made, Archie loves ole miss, a whole helluva lot more than some of you 4 year fans who are still popping pimples. I guess had you been in charge you would have lured in Dungy right? Give me a fricking break, Archie isn't out to save money, he wants ole miss to win more than anybody. If they hired freeze then it's because they felt he is the best coach available, period.

What happened with Fedora and his supposed contract?

Did he turn it down?

scroll down the CC board and look at who started that thread.

anything he "predicts" usually comes back false. And when I say usually.....i mean around 99% of the time.

This time, he wised up and reported every dipshit thing he heard. That way he can point at the one thing that was correct and completely ignore the numerous other instances that weren't.

I think Freeze will be a good coach in time. I just didn't want him to get his time here yet.

But I know the guy works his arse off. He learned recruiting from the master.

That's two very bit qualities to me in who I want as a HC. Here's to hoping he learns on the job quickly...

I have nothing against Freeze. This isn't his fault. But Ole Miss had 4 weeks to get a good head coach to get this program fired up. Instead, once again, they settle for mediocrity. What was the point of a national search committee?

I feel like their decision for Freeze was already determined right after Nutt was fired. Which is probably why they dicked around for 4 weeks.

I'm disappointed in Ole Miss right now. They could have done a lot better. With names like Mike Leach, Rich Rod, Tommy Bowden, etc all having interest in the job, we could have done better. As much as I hate Mike Leach, I wish he was our announcement at this point.

I'll support this team, not the coach. For the administration, I won't support them until they can prove to me that they actually care about making this university better.

the thing is......to me.....this contradicts itself. If you have nothing against Freeze, then why not support him if he is our HC. I can understand you not supporting the administration over the hire.....but I don't understand not supporting a guy who you don't fault.

If anything, you should support him even more.

If this is the attitude of the Ole Miss community then the Rebels will remain to be the runts of the litter in the SEC. Even looking up at Miss. State and Vandy.

agreed.

Yes, I wish we had better.....but you at least have to give the guy a chance if he is, in fact, already hired.

I have a gut feeling that Hugh Freeze will be very successful at Ole Miss. I hope I'm right.
