I think he has potential to be good. He's a good recruiter and runs a spread option offense from what I read, which is the type of Offense Mackey and Brunetti need to be in.
He's also been successful at every place he's coached.
I'm not really excited about the hire, but at the same time... compared to Nutt's run Enricky into the center's arse for 1 yard type of offense, I'll be interested in seeing someone who appears to know what they're doing

Just remember to tell the players to protect their families!

because i think he's better than the last two hires....
arguably three hires.

He is better than the Orgeron hire, he isn't the known bag man for a powerhouse school with no coordinating or head coach experience
At least he has head coaching experience and was successful, but it was in the sun belt

Miss State would hire Mark Hudspeth. You gonna be pissed when that happens?

If we are paying him over a million dollars...then we are overpaying.

Not pissed but I would rather hire Manny Diaz
Hud was with us for a few years as passing game coordinator, had a great season at ULL and did extremely well at UNA before all of that.
Freeze was a high school coach a few years ago, and has one year of head coaching experience at a NCAA school and parlayed Oher into an Ole Miss job
It is just a very underwhelming hire if true

This. He only has what......one more season of being an OC at a good school than Freeze?
Now don't get me wrong....I'd prefer Hudspeth based on where they are at this moment in their respective careers. I think Huds more ready for the job than Freeze. But we're hoping that Freeze grows into the job a lot quicker.

he has some more success at a few other small schools.
NAIA schools.....but still as a HC and did very well.

He doesn't have a lot of experience but he hasn't coached in high school for a while now.

I was disappointed when Leach wasn't hired but this is why I think Freeze would be successful:
1) He will work his butt off to be successful.
2) He will recruit his butt off and is familiar with the region.
3) He will be committed long term.
4) He's young and innovative.
5) He was successful at Arkansas State...which says a lot.

Malzahn was coaching high school football in 2005, yet he's been getting HC offers for the past 2 years

And he has been running high powered college offenses since, not to mention the OC of a national champion
Just a tad bit different

Exactly what I've been thinking. One thing I really loved about Orgeron is he worked his arse off and made everyone around him do the same.

So is it a done deal or still speculation

Seems like it's basically a done deal. We'll see tomorrow for sure.
