I don’t think it’s a money thing for Fickell. He could have made a jump last year for more money and didn’t. As far as LSU goes, he and his wife turned down Michigan State because of off the field issues, so that doesn’t bode well for us. Not to mention we’re far away from their home.

The last several years of controversy swirling around Michigan State University helped convince the school's first choice for head football coach to turn down the job, multiple sources told the Free Press on Monday.

And it wasn't just Luke Fickell, the current University of Cincinnati coach, who had the concerns. His wife, Amy, and Luke to some extent, had concerns about campus culture at MSU, including lawsuits roiling the football department. Those concerns were part of the reason the Fickells turned down the Michigan State football job on Monday, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation told the Free Press.

Would you rather raise your kids in Cincy or Baton Rouge? I don't know what Cincy is like but I would be really hesitant to bring my six kids to BR.

Sounds like they're catholic, which could work in their favor, but Midwest catholics are way different than southern catholics.

Uh, their off field issues are on another level.

As I recall Fickell turned down MSU, which would have been a large pay bump, due to not wanting to move.

If he won't go to Michigan I'd be surprised if he would be interested in LA.

Of course coaches say one thing then do another all the time..

Michigan State is nothing compared to LSU if he values winning championships. Cincinnati may come close or even get to the playoffs, but he’s not winning it all with Cincinnati either.

I recently stopped by the Cincinnati 247 site. Their posters are pretty arrogant that Fickell would never leave Cincy for LSU. And that Amy Fickell would never send her kids to school in Louisiana.

They’re worried about Penn State opening.

I couldn’t believe the brashness that fan base has to dismiss LSU so quickly as possible interest for Fickell

He’s my top target

I wouldn't worry too much about fan talk. Ohio football people have a bias hate for SEC football.

SE Louisiana is loaded with Catholic schools since the area is rich in Catholic heritage. Lots of decent private schools.
