-means as much as any other public statement nowadays - folks who want to read something into it- do so, folks who don't care - don't.
A couple of boosters would have asked for this and seems a small enough favor to do if it would appease them and keep the dollars flowing in - because the AD knows that this means squat with regards to coaching changes/hires/fires.
